Concepts
 We learned the meaning of collage
(Collage is a piece of art made by
sticking various different materials such
as photographs and pieces of paper or
fabric onto a backing). The students used
a variety of materials to accomplish this
concept through their artwork.
 We discussed the famous artist Pablo
Picasso and his impact on art. Pablo
Picasso did not follow the art rules.
 Pablo Picasso was known for cofounding the cubism movement (Cubism
is an early 20th century style and
movement in art, especially painting, in
which perspective with a single viewpoint
was abandoned and use was made of
simple geometric shapes, interlocking
planes, and later collage.) With the
students we expanded on this topic and
created a self-portrait of ourselves that
was inspired by Pablo Picasso and the
cubism movement.

What We Learned
Continue learning with your child...
-Did Pablo Picasso follow the art rules?
-Find items around your house and create a
collage!
-Use chalk, black paper and shape cutouts.
Create a chalk rubbing by placing the shape
cutout onto a black piece of paper and
rubbing chalk over the top and onto the piece
of black paper. Lift the cutout up and see the
shape you and your child created!
