The First INFN Grid School on
Application Porting

• The idea was born in May 2007 at the last CCR Workshop to exploit
the experience made in the context of International Projects to
speed-up the “gridification” of INFN “non-LHC” applications.
• Two formative steps:
– The “I Corso di formazione INFN per amministratori di siti Grid”
– The “I Corso di formazione INFN su aspetti pratici dell'integrazione di
applicazioni in GRID”
• A huge organizational effort and a big economic investment
(THANKS VERY MUCH to the “Commissione Formazione” of INFN!)
• If this will be or not the First and the Last INFN Grid School of this
kind depends on all of us.

… and a conclusion
• Maybe we are not there yet with Grids but …
• … what EU in Europe and INFN in Italy are doing is
surely paving the way for this and, for the quantity and
the quality of the work done so far by the various
projects, Grids are the most important key enablers of
the European Research Area.
• e-Science represents one of the most important factors
of the progress and sustainable development of a
country and YOU are the new generation of e-scientists
of the 21st century. Don’t miss the epochal opportunity
of being part of this technological (r)evolution !
