Phi State World Fellowship Committee 2015-2016

Phi State World Fellowship Committee
2015-2016
What a great opportunity we have as an organization to be able to help women from other
countries achieve their dreams. We can do this by actively supporting the World Fellowship
fund. This fund is based on the last phrase of Purpose No. 5 “….to grant fellowships to nonmember women educators.”
World Fellowship funds depend entirely on the voluntary contributions and bequests from
states, chapters, members, other interested persons and the interest earned. The amounts of
these funds determine the number of awards that can be given each year. To maintain the
fund’s future, a minimum of 20 percent of unencumbered fund balance on June 30 is retained.
Selection of recipients is made from dossiers supplied by the Institute of International
Education, a screening agency for Fulbright recipients planning to study in the U.S. and Canada.
The award is a maximum of $4,000, with possible extensions granted in varying amounts.
If we want to continue aiding these recipients in fulfilling their drams, we must do our part as a
State Organization and that our chapters need to become dedicated to making this fund grow.
Many chapters have clever ways of collecting donations at each meeting, while many simply
budget a set amount. It is up to each chapter to determine the method used to support World
Fellowship.
The Delta Kappa Gamma Website offers more information, many ideas for ways to collect
donations and addresses for contacts. Just log onto www.dkg.org. The listing for 2015-2016
recipients can be found in the attached brochure.
Names and contact information of committee members are in the Phi State Directory. Contact
your chapter president or educational excellence/program committee chairman for more
information.
