There is no such thing as
international copyright law.
• Aleksandra: Documents published in other countries are
protected in Canada as though they were published in
Canada.
• Iona: Automatic protections did not always exist in some
countries such as the US, until they joined the Berne
Convention.
• Christine: Even in countries that are part of the Berne
Convention there remains many differences in their
copyright law.
• Stephanie: When talking about international copyright we
are usually talking about digital.
• Linda: Surprised that many other countries do not have
allowances for educational use of works such as multiple
copying for classroom use
