A player who consistently gives her all, playing hard and fair at the same time. A player who acknowledges a good play, shot, or save by an opponent. A player who helps an opponent up off of the ground. An opponent who readily accepts a penalty and makes a conscious effort to learn from her mistake. – A player who apologizes for a penalty that was not called. – A player who willingly switches teams to help an opponent who is short. – A player who congratulates an opposing goalie for making a great save. Please notify the opposing team and confirm. Both clubs MUST confirm (matching entries). – Once all changes are confirmed, use the “2017 Schedule Edit Template” to record changes. – Send your team’s template to your program admin to consolidate all teams onto one program wide template. – Admin will email Kelly and cc all age group leaders to the email. Please title email subject as 2017 “Program Name” Final Schedule. – OGYLA will accept all change templates until March 19th, 2016. Changes should be complete, distributed, and on web by Mar 31 • Once season has started, if changes need to occur, first confirm changes with the opposing coach, then email Kelly, please with email subject as “Team Name, Date, Type of change (addition, deletion, edit)”. Note that there are only 2 legal headgear protective products to date. Check the USL website. They are the only ones that will be allowed. In addition to the fouls where a mandatory card must be given, umpires are instructed to pay particular attention to misconduct fouls that involve (USL Rulebook): • Excessively rough, dangerous, or unsportsmanlike play • Persistent or flagrant violation of the rules • Deliberately endangering the safety of an opposing player • Baiting or taunting which is intended or designed to embarrass, ridicule, or demean others • Excessive dissent or abusive language • Non-playing team member leaving their team bench area during the game • Coach leaving their coaching area • Re-entering the game before yellow or green/red card penalty time has elapsed • Any type of behavior which in the umpires opinion amounts to misconduct Beyond this, cards may be issued to coaches who are not able to prevent unsportsmanlike behaviors and/or acts of misconduct by parents, fans, and/or other observers of games Sportsmanship Incident Review Process: OGYLA’s Sportsmanship Director will record and review all red and yellow cards for unsportsmanlike behavior/misconduct, as well as other reported incidents Sanction Protocol: • Tier 1 – 1st Yellow: Official warning to player, coach and club • Tier 2 – 2nd Yellow; 1st Red: Mandatory 1 game suspension; Call with OGYLA, player, coach and club • Tier 3 – 3rd Yellow; 2nd Red: Mandatory 2 game suspension; Face to face meeting with Sportsmanship Review Committee, player/parent, coach and club; Other sanctions possible • Tier 4 – 4th Yellow; 3rd Red: Sportsmanship Review Committee hearing to determine severity of penalty; Suspension from remainder of season, minimum 4 game suspension (possible to carry over to next season); Possible forfeit of games; Possible club fine and sanctions.
