Craigs list Tip of the Day Series
Craig's list ads are free plus they are searchable. They only take a few minutes to
do as well.
Here are the basics: I run about four ads. I refresh them on Mondays and
Thursdays. I run my ads under the following headings: Computer Services,
Creative Services, Event Services and General Community. There are other
categories that you can advertise in as well. Check out your local Craig's List by
going to Craigslist.com.
Make your ads simple and to the point. Here is the ad that I run under General
Community:

Craigslist SOP
Craigslist is a comprehensive national classified ad website that is
localized to your community. The site serves over five billion page views per
month. It’s the common man’s classified section where average people look for
everyday goods and services.
With a few narrow exceptions, this service is FREE! We recommend that
you take advantage of this online service by posting your own Video ad in your
city. Make sure you include your contact information and a link to your website.
To register on Craigslist you need to go to Craigslist.com Click
on your city. The page will reset to your city’s Craig List.
Click on My Account in the upper right hand corner.
Click on Create Craig’s List Account to set up your account.
Once you have set up your account log in and start creating ads!
Click New Posting on the left and the GO.
Click on the “POST TO CLASSIFIEDS” on the left side.
Click on Services offered.
There are many services but the ones we suggest are Creative Services,
Legal Services, Small Business Services and Community Services. There are
several other categories.
Once you click the desired category the following will appear:

1. You need to enter a title in the Posting Title area. Examples: We Transfer
Video to DVD or Christmas Video Gifts or Video Legal Services.
2. You then fill out the Specific Location with your city name or area you are
target and your zip code.
3. Write your ad in the Posting Description. Make sure to include your phone
number.
4. By the way, at the top choose CL Mail Relay. Do not put your email
address in the ad. If you do you will get tons of spam.
5. At the bottom you can put your address in if you wish but it is not
necessary.
6. Put all contact info in the Description field. Once again, I suggest your
phone number and your address but not your email address. You can put
your phone number and name in the contact box at the top if you wish but
you do not have to.
7. Do not check: ok for others to contact you about other services, products or
commercial interests.
8. Make sure to add a picture! You can add your logo too if you wish. Here is

Here you will be able to proof your ad and if it is the way you want it simply click
publish on the right lower or upper side. If you need to change anything, edit your
text or add a picture.
Once you press publish you are essentially done. You can create another ad or
check on the ads you have running or go an make yourself a warm water with
lemon.
Craig’s List changes from time to time and the process could be a little different
depending on where you are and what category you are posting under.
Make sure to post on Mondays and refresh on Thursdays and Monday.
Is Craig’s list a “make or break” marketing item? No. But it is free!!! And it works.
Mainly it works as a backup to your other advertising and marketing but it also
grabs some new customers.

Make sure to put your contact info in the ad. Also include a photo.
I started my ads on Monday and then I renew them on Thursdays. CL lets you
renew your ads ever three days in most markets. You can run as many ads as
you like; however, CL does not like you placing more than four ads in a 24 hour
period.
Last thought… it is free! It’s searchable! It gets you business! Craig’s List is good
for business.
