CMS cooling operational model P. Tropea for the CMS cooling team (J. Daguin, V. Delachenal, G. Fetchenhauer, N. Frank, J-F. Pernot, D. Deyrail, E. Albert) Tracker cooling operation and maintenance plan review 16 April 2010 CMS cooling operation & CMS cooling team role CMS cooling team: a group of engineers & technicians from PH-CMX and PH-DT, with the mandate of supporting the CMS cooling users and the CV team in their activities for the CMS cooling systems CMS subdetectors Whishes for changes in the existing system, upgrades…. CMS Technical Coordination Long term plans, setting priorities, checking costs… Activity planning CMS cooling team CMS EAM Demands for improvements, share of info on performances, organization of maintenance activities CMS Technical Shifter Doubts concerning DCS readings, alarms EN/CV Activity planning 16 April 2010 P. Tropea 2 Support to the users • Coordination of CV activities with the users and the TC • Collection and analysis of requirements for consolidation or upgrade works, to be reported to CV for feasibility studies • Support to the DCS for infrastructure monitoring implementation • Monitoring of cooling system performances, in collaboration with users and EN/CV, writing monthly reports on perfluorocarbon cooling system performances (checked by EN/CV and distributed to users) • Participation to TC and subdetectors operation meetings • Regular meetings “CMS cooling” (Indico) • Weekly meetings with EN/CV/DC 16 April 2010 P. Tropea 3 CMS cooling expert on call During working hours, a CMS cooling expert on duty can be reached by technical shifters, users, CV, etc. at 163021. The expert on call role is: • Make a first diagnose on the cooling system behavior and evaluate the need for a call to CV (using DCS views & CV/DC supervision) • Coordinate the corrective maintenance activities and provide technical support to CV whenever demanded • Adjust, on user request, the cooling set points for the fluorocarbon cooling plants (T, p, flow) • Report on e-logs any intervention 16 April 2010 P. Tropea 4 Operation and maintenance Geographically, CMS responsibilities on cooling systems - For fluorocarbon circuits: the cooling loop serving the detector after the manifold valves in UXC - For water circuits: all the circuit part in UXC + the rack distribution in USC The CMS cooling team takes care of: • Organize the documentation (working space pointing to EDMS is being created) • Write the procedures for the cooling system operation • Organize a storage area & spare parts • Execute maintenance (corrective and preventive) activities on that part of the circuit (repair leaky flexibles, change purgers, clean filters…) and document the activities • Provide technical support for any other intervention, under the request of CV 16 April 2010 P.
