Special Educational Needs Coordinator SENCo Lunch Time

A warm welcome back to school to all our
children and their parents and carers. The
children have settled back really well in this
first week and i have been impressed by how
ready they are to learn. We have a number
of new staff: Miss Sadler in year 4, Miss
Bennett in year 3 and Mrs Crossley our
parent support worker.
A full staff list is attached.

very fortunate to have Mrs Harvey, an
experienced SENCo, to take on this role
until we appoint a new assistant principal.

please speak to Mrs Harvey.

Thank you for making sure that your children
are sent to school in the correct uniform. We

behaviour and provides children with a sense of
belonging to Minerva.

would ask that any variations from all black

Lunch Time Change.
Meet the Team
We have changed our lunch time from a 12
o’clock start to a 12.30 start. This has been
really positive as it makes more time for
learning to take place in the mornings.
However, some children get hungry during the
morning session so please ensure that they
have an extra big breakfast or bring a snack to
eat during the morning break.
We will be holding a "Meet the team" session on
Tuesday 13th September from 5pm until 6pm
where you will have an opportunity to meet staff.
We look forward to a really successful, fun and
stimulating year.
Best wishes
Mr Hallam
Congtatulations to our French teacher on her
recent wedding. She is now Mrs Watton.
New build update.
The Minerva value this month is
TOLERANCE
During assembly the children decided that
Tolerance was not just a British value, but a
value that is essential for everybody to live by.
We have wise children at Minerva.
You will have noticed the
builders’ temporary huts in the junior playground.
They have been working over the summer on making
the old junior hall into our temporary nursery and
reception classrooms. This work will be completed
next week. Four further temporary classrooms to be
placed in the junior playground should arrive in term 2
and we will all be moved into the back of the school
site by Christmas. After this (in January) you will see
the builders start to demolish the front of the school.
Construction of the new building will also be started
(in a field near Leeds!) during the next 3 months. We
hope to have it completed by Autumn 2017.
SMSA Vacancy.

FRIENDS OF MINERVA
A big thank you to all the parents who
contributed last year to our events. Together we raised over £200!
Thanks to your generosity this paid for giant Jenga, giant Connect
4, swing balls for the playground and helped fund a very special
assembly for science week from Bristol UWE.
We are a friendly group of parents and carers who meet up on Wednesday afternoon at the school. There
are usually a few pre-school children running about enjoying themselves. We would love you to drop by for
a cup of tea and share your ideas. There is no commitment required, even if you only come once you can
make a difference!
In the past we have enjoyed a disco, World Book day raffle, film night, uniform sale and the Christmas fair.
We also had some fun competitions like Guess the Teddy’s name and making fruit owls.
We would love you to join us and have fun supporting our children and the school we love.
Hope to see you any Wednesday afternoon 2:30pm.
Gemma
