The Solar Impulse aims to fly around the
world powered by sunlight only. It is a oneof-a-kind project that is not only concerned
with saving and conserving energy, but about
working smarter instead of working harder.
While remaining in the air day after day,
the Solar Impulse allows us to look beyond
conventional belt tightening: it proves
convincingly that man can tap into a virtually
unlimited supply of solar energy.
Series application
The Schindler 3300 Solar has taken its inspiration from the Solar Impulse. Our aim is to
supply the elevator with as much solar power
as possible - so it is all about saving, replacing and storage of clean energy. All of this in
a series product with the same performance,
reliability and comfort.

Plug in to a clean

The Schindler 3300 Solar is all about the benefits of self-supplying energy
management. The elevator can be operated by a grid and photovoltaic-panels
that contribute to an autonomously operated building.

The solar elevator can be plugged in just like any kitchen
appliance and functions with a standard PV-panel interface.
A three-phase building interface is not required. It is
engineered for quick integration into the building power
system.

Whenever there is sunlight the batteries will be charged with solar
energy. Different charging modes make it possible to respond to
traffic-flow requirements of the building and extra grid charging
in low traffic periods. Even grid supplied expensive power peaks
are a thing of the past.
* Based on a Life Cycle Assessment for a representative configuration and over a
life-time of 15 years. Results consider a 50% energy supply with solar energy per year.

The Solar energy supply is kept at a maximum by the smart Hybrid Power
Manager, a new component that controls energy supply and is able to store
energy for a long-lasting clean operation. This assures continuous operation
and CO2 savings.

to charge the accumulators. Less energy from the grid also means

Sustainable operation
with proven technology
The Schindler 3300 Solar is designed and planned to be operated as conveniently as the standard Schindler 3300 model. The dual power supply is
enabled by the Hybrid Power Manager (HPM) and is easy to install and connect.
Reliable technology
The Schindler 3300 Solar uses the same
technology as the regular Schindler 3300
elevator. It comes equipped with all the
plus points – the lubrication-free gearless
drive, the innovative traction media and
design varieties.
Hybrid Power
The Hybrid Power Manager is the new
operative core of the Schindler 3300
Solar. It controls the flow of energy
and stores the power that operates the
elevator. All power is regulated by the
HPM and it can be located somewhere
in the building in a closed room with a
maximum distance of 27 m to the drive
system.

Operation modes for
uninterruptable operation
The Schindler 3300 Solar offers various modes that secure a non-stop
operation and aims at optimizing the solar energy supply.
Sun charges battery
Whenever sunlight is available the accumulators
will be exclusively* charged via this power source.
This mode is consistant with the aim to keep the
accumulators continuously charged.

Supply by accumulators
The elevator will always be supplied by the
accumulators, there is no direct connection either
to the grid or the PV-panels. In case the capacity
reaches a certain level, re-charging will start via
the grid until the accumulators are fully charged.
As the system is smart grid ready, grid charging
can also be pre-set at times with low cost energy
tariffs.

Energy gets recuperated into the accumulators
whenever it is not being used to operate the
elevators e.g. in case of light loads traveling
downwards.

and options as the regular Schindler 3300. Two distinctive
style sets and three decoration lines are available - with the
freedom to combine the interiors to meet your requirements.
Passenger interface
See how much solar energy has been stored, used or
produced - experience the green mobility. The Schindler
3300 Solar comes with a special feature - the passenger interface. The interface can be installed in the elevator or on
the main floor. It displays information for the passengers
and at the same time is also the configuration device for
the owners of the building and our service technicians.
