Mission –Promote Associate Degree Nursing through education, leadership, inclusivity, collaboration, and
advocacy to ensure excellence in the future of health care and professional nursing practice.
OADN Benefits
 Membership in the only organization voicing the interests of associate degree nursing education at
the national level on issues such as: models of academic progression, community colleges conferring
the BSN, nurses in leadership positions, accreditation, and most importantly preserving access to
nursing education at community colleges and other associate degree nursing programs.
 Representing members’ interests at numerous national and international presentations to promote the
importance of preserving associate degree nursing education.
 Alpha Delta Nu Nursing Honor Society: Charters available to agency members for the only honor
society available for associate degree nursing students.
 Academy of Associate Degree Nursing: Recognizes associate degree nursing educators for their
expertise in the profession. Individual OADN members are eligible to apply for the Academy Fellows
program.
 Collaborating with national nursing organizations to ensure the voice of associate degree nursing remains at
the forefront for a the role in academic progression, such as the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Academic
Progression in Nursing Advisory Committee, the Center to Champion Nursing in America, Nursing Community,
Nursing Alliance, Nurses on Boards Coalition, the American Nurses Association, the National League for
Nursing; the American Colleges of Nursing; American Nurses Association; and the American Organization for
Nurse Executives.
 Subscription to Teaching and Learning in Nursing, OADN’s official journal.
 Affiliations with national organizations, such as the American Association of Community Colleges,
Association of Community College Trustees, Community College Baccalaureate Association Institute of
Medicine’s Global Forum on Innovation in Health Professional Education to promote associate degree
nursing education.
 OADN Online Community to share questions and received feedback from other ADN nurse educators.
