facilitatingopportunitiesforstudentleadership,andthecreationofstrategic

TheSSUIBoardofDirectorsislookingforamature,motivatedindividualtoexecutethe
dutiesofthePresident. ThePresidentwillserveastheforemostvoiceofthestudent
body.ItistheresponsibilityofthePresidentsupportthemissionoftheSUandto
ensurethattheyimplementthestrategicgoalsasestablishedbytheBoardofDirectors
tothebestoftheabilityoftheadministration.ThePresidentwillberesponsibleto
ensurethatallrelevantstudentissuesarebroughttotheBoard.
Thesuccessfulcandidatewillhaveexcellentleadership,problemsolving, organizational,
communication,customerservice,interpersonalskills,andpossess ateamplayer
attitude.Thecandidatewillberesults-orientedwiththeabilitytodelegate,beflexible,
workwellunderpressure,andhaveastrongunderstandingand commitmentto
confidentiality.Itisimportanttonotethatthispositioncoversawide varietyof

• BetheprimaryspokespersonfortheSheridanStudentUnionInc.
• AttendcollegeandexternaleventsastheStudentUnionrepresentativeas
requested
• OperateinaccordancewiththeVision,ValuesandMission,aswellastheby-laws
andpoliciesoftheSSUI
• ParticipateinregularExecutiveMeetingswiththeExecutiveVice- Presidents
• HaveregularmeetingsandcommunicationwithGeneralManger
• ParticipateinregularSeniorManagementmeetingswithallSeniorManagersand
theGeneralManager
• InconjunctionwiththeGeneralManagerprepareandoverseetheannualbudget
• EnsurethatthereisaSSUIrepresentativeforallSheridancollegecouncils&
committeesthatrequirestudentrepresentation
• BetheprimaryadvocateforallSheridanstudentstothecollegeadministration
• BetheprimaryadvocateforSheridanstudentsindealingwiththemunicipal,
provincialorfederalgovernmentswhenrequired
• Ensureareasonablelevelofcommunicationwiththestudentbodyonaregular
basis

DevelopaneffectiveandappropriatecontinuityplanfortheincomingPresidentand
BoardofDirectors
EnsurethattheoutgoingEVPsprovideaneffectiveandappropriatecontinuityplan
fortheincomingEVPs
Endeavourtodistributetimebetweenallcampuses
HaveastrongunderstandingofallSSUIservices
PrepareforandattendallSSUIBoardofDirectormeetingsasanex-officiomember
ParticipateinrelevantcollegeandSSUIcouncilsandcommittees
Beon-callforemergenciesduringeveningsandweekends
PerformthedutiesofExecutiveVice-President(s)whencircumstancesrequire
promptactionandtheEVPisnotavailable
WiththesupportoftheGeneralManagerandHumanResourcesManager,beaware
andprovidedirectionwhenneededregardingHRrelatedmatters
OtherdutiesasassignedbytheBoardofDirectors
Qualifications:
• Mustbeagraduatingfee-payingSheridanstudentwithgoodacademicstandingwho
wasenrolledinclassesintheSpring,FallandorWintertermprecedingthetermin
officeorparttimestudentwithminimumofonecourseandmaximumoftwocourses
• Mustbecommittedtofulltimehoursbasedonstandardoperatinghoursandafter
hoursmeetings
• Understandingof informedadvocacy
• DemonstratedinvolvementinextracurricularactivityatSheridan
• Mustbeabletoworkindependentlyandinateam
• Abilitytothinkstrategically,formulateandexecuteplanstomeettheorganization
goals
• Mayberequiredtotravelandtoworkoutsideofnormalbusinesshours
• Mustbeabletoattendeveningmeetingsandeventsatleasttwicepermonth
