Anglican Diocese of Mauritius St Paul’s Church, Plaine Verte Progress Report for New Education Centre as at 31st December 2008 1. The Project The New Education Centre, currently under construction, has a total floor area of 546 m 2 spread over 3 levels and is linked to the existing Immanuel Hall. The ground floor will be dedicated to the Children Ministry’s activities and contains 3 classrooms and one open lobby. The first floor consists of 5 rooms which will be used to hold various activities such as Sunday school classes, cell meetings, bible study classes, ministry meetings, etc. The second floor is an open plan area which will be used as a multipurpose hall. It will be equipped with all public address system and power point projection facilities to be able to hold church services, seminars, conferences, meetings, etc. On a lighter side, it will be used as a sports hall for playing badminton, doing gym and physical exercise as well as for dance rehearsals. 2. Cost Plan The total budgetary cost of the project is estimated to be Rs 10,000,000.00 and will be funded as follows: 1. Contribution from parish reserve Rs 5,000,000.00 2. Contribution by Anglican Diocese Rs 3. Pledge by parishioners Rs 2,600,000.00 4. Donation by Mrs Victoria Cheng Kai On Rs 1,000,000.00 ------------------- 500,000.00 Rs 9,100,000.00 5. Progress of Works (a) Contract Works As at end December 2008, the structure of the building was completed with the roof slab cast on 19.11.08. Finishing works are also on track and progress achieved so far is as follows: Internal rendering Ground Floor - 100% Internal rendering First Floor - 100% Internal rendering Second Floor - 95% Internal 1st coat painting Ground Floor - 90% Internal 1st coat painting First Floor - 80% External rendering - 85% Plumbing works – First Fix - 75% Tiling Works - 5% External Staircase - 30% External painting - 20 % It should be noted that all tiles and sanitary wares have already been purchased and received on site. It is planned that all works pertaining to the scope of works entrusted to the Main Contractor, Messrs Nissi Construction Co Ltd, will be completed by end February 2009. (b) Direct Works The following works fall outside the current scope of works of the Main Contractor and will be dealt separately with direct sub contractors: Aluminium openings Timber doors Timber flooring to hall on 2nd floor Electrical Installation Air Conditioning Installation Public address system Sewer and drainage works External kitchen/canteen Subject to avaibility of the direct subcontractors, delivery period of overseas orders, receipt of outstanding pledge and further donation, it is forecasted that the overall project will be completed by end April 2009.
