Sunshine Class Culture Week- Clothes Autumn 1 The children in Sunshine group are always encouraged to express their feelings using their individual communication system. We support the children to find ways of managing their feelings whether it be quiet time or a story. We will be encouraging sharing and taking turns using the timer as a visual to support this. We will encourage the children to choose a friend to play with. The children in Sunshine will be exploring the clothes we wear inside and outside. Thinking about what keeps us warm and cool. The children will be exploring the farm and forest school, understanding the natural world and the changes that occur. On the computers and iPads, we will be encouraging children to use their mouse and fine motor skills to create patterns. The children will be provided with daily opportunities through play to explore numbers and shapes. The children will focus on their individual targets through activities such as small world play, songs and hands on activities. We will focus on number problems and the values of a number. The children will be given daily opportunities to mark make inside and in the outside environment. This will include gross motor movement. They will have opportunity to develop their fine motor skills. The children will have access to books daily and when appropriate individual reading activities will be introduced. The children will be encouraged to use their gross motor skills to create large patterns. The children in Sunshine are encouraged to put their belongings away in the morning and at the end of the day. The children will learn to get their snack ready, wash and dry their cup/bowl afterwards. We will encourage the children to get their coats and boots on ready for outside activities. The children in Sunshine will be encouraged to get their own dinner, cutlery and learn to open their own packets from their packed lunch. The children in Sunshine class will be discovering a variety of textures and sounds through Sensology and Tac Pac. The children will explore patterns and different effects. The children will have daily opportunities to use construction materials. We will focus on the textures of different materials on our skin, using body awareness and dressing up. The children will be working on their individual communication targets set by SLT, in a variety of environments such as soft play, swimming pool and forest school. PECS and Communication books go home daily to encourage the children to use these skills at home as well as school. The children will work on listening skills, following instructions and playing a variety of listening games such as sound lotto. The children will be working on their physical development with PE sessions in the hall, soft play, sensory circuits and swimming. We will be working on ball games. The children will be throwing, catching and rolling the ball in a variety of ways to adults and peers. We will encourage the children to independently change their clothes for PE and swimming, using their fine motor skills. The children will be working on their individual targets for swimming.
