Sunshine Class
Culture Week- Clothes
Autumn 1
The children in Sunshine group are always encouraged to
express their feelings using their individual
communication system. We support the children to find
ways of managing their feelings whether it be quiet time
or a story. We will be encouraging sharing and taking
turns using the timer as a visual to support this. We will
encourage the children to choose a friend to play with.
The children in Sunshine will be exploring the
clothes we wear inside and outside. Thinking
about what keeps us warm and cool. The children
will be exploring the farm and forest school,
understanding the natural world and the changes
that occur. On the computers and iPads, we will be
encouraging children to use their mouse and fine
motor skills to create patterns.
The children will be provided with daily
opportunities through play to explore
numbers and shapes. The children will focus
on their individual targets through activities
such as small world play, songs and hands on
activities. We will focus on number problems
and the values of a number.
The children will be given daily opportunities to mark
make inside and in the outside environment. This will
include gross motor movement. They will have
opportunity to develop their fine motor skills. The
children will have access to books daily and when
appropriate individual reading activities will be
introduced. The children will be encouraged to use their
gross motor skills to create large patterns.
The children in Sunshine are encouraged to put their
belongings away in the morning and at the end of the
day. The children will learn to get their snack ready, wash
and dry their cup/bowl afterwards. We will encourage
the children to get their coats and boots on ready for
outside activities. The children in Sunshine will be
encouraged to get their own dinner, cutlery and learn to
open their own packets from their packed lunch.
The children in Sunshine class will be
discovering a variety of textures and sounds
through Sensology and Tac Pac. The children
will explore patterns and different effects.
The children will have daily opportunities to
use construction materials. We will focus on
the textures of different materials on our
skin, using body awareness and dressing up.
The children will be working on their individual
communication targets set by SLT, in a variety of
environments such as soft play, swimming pool
and forest school. PECS and Communication books
go home daily to encourage the children to use
these skills at home as well as school. The children
will work on listening skills, following instructions
and playing a variety of listening games such as
sound lotto.
The children will be working on their physical
development with PE sessions in the hall, soft play,
sensory circuits and swimming. We will be working on
ball games. The children will be throwing, catching and
rolling the ball in a variety of ways to adults and peers.
We will encourage the children to independently change
their clothes for PE and swimming, using their fine motor
skills. The children will be working on their individual
targets for swimming.
