Principles For Leading
Discussion
Principles for Leading Discussion
• Be a Facilitator NOT a “Teacher”
– The topic/material has already been
taught.
– The purpose of the discussion is to get
everyone interacting on the topic on a
deeper level.
– What are the teens thinking about the
topic/material
– “How does it apply to my life?”
Principles for Leading Discussion
• Ask thoughtful questions, openended questions
• Get EVERYONE involved
– Try not to allow the group to be
dominated by a few people
– When someone isn’t sharing, ask them
directly
• Don’t be afraid of silence
– Count to 20 before jumping in.
Principles for Leading Discussion
• Keep the group focused and on topic
– Allow the group to open up and go their
own direction within the topic.

by God.
AND

– Ray comfort (and others) advise that
you share 90% Law and 10% grace.
Present the Authentic Person of
Christ
• False Christ’s
• What is the Good News? Or should it
be…Who is the Good News?
– Not the Plan of Salvation
– Jesus is the one who saves, not a
method or a prayer.
Present the Authentic Person of
Christ
• Invite them to..
– Consider or think about what you have
talked about.
– Read about Jesus in the bible.
• He does a pretty good job of describing how
to be saved.
• Bring people to a point of decision to
either accept or reject Christ.
– Relationships are important but the
longer you wait to confront them with
Truth, the harder it will be.
