Leadership Application - Brookhaven Presbyterian Church

Leadership Application
Thanks for your interest in leadership at BPC! The following is a brief application. We ask that
you read through the ministry plan, budget, Tim Keller’s article “Why Plant Churches?” and the
document on Job Descriptions. Then take about 30 minutes to an hour to thoughtfully and
prayerfully go through this application. In using the word “application”, we do not meant to
imply that if you don’t answer the questions right you will be cut from the team. On the other
hand, neither do we assume that just because you are considering it that God is calling you
toward leadership at BPC. Instead, the following questions are intended to give us a better idea
about each other in order to discern if this is God’s will.
The questions are more designed for an honest inventory than a report card on how good of a
Christian or person you are. Please don’t let Satan cause you to feel accused if you feel you fall
short in any question (like the one on evangelism): God’s grace is greater than all our
shortcomings, and the verdict is already in that we are His chosen and beloved people.
For couples, if you could fill out separate sheets, that would be wonderful. Also, if you’d prefer
me to email you a copy of the application, please feel free.
*Please make sure you have read the Ministry Plan, the BPC Budget, “Why Plant Churches?” by
Tim Keller, and the document on leader job descriptions before filling out this application.
*Leaders are expected to commit to leadership for 1 full ministry year. Each year leaders have
the chance to re-commit for another year. Please also read through the Job Descriptions
document carefully, knowing that you are also committing to a handful of smaller activities (e.g.
serving 2-4 times per year in Family Ministry).
*If you are thinking of serving in Family Ministry, please read through the family ministry
philosophy of ministry and associated articles before completing the application.
