The Three Counties Community Play Programme (3CCP) brings together people and
organisations, recognising the need for play within their communities, through providing
support for local communities, volunteers and groups who wish to establish sustainable,
volunteer run play clubs enabling children to play within their own community. The overall
aim is for play to be delivered by local people for local people.
Key Purpose:
To support play provisions established and currently supported by the programme, offering
a safe and stimulating environment for children and young people aged 5-15 years. The role
will also play an integral part in delivering successful play opportunities during school
holidays across Monmouthshire and Newport.
Roles & Responsibilities:
To report directly to the Three Counties Programme Manager and liaise with the
Development Officers in accordance with their work, producing verbal and written
reports to a good standard
To work as part of a team in both the planning and delivery of a flexible programme for
play activities, including:- arts and craft, music, games, sports, themed days and various
other play activities.
To assist in the general running and development of the play provisions and carry out
the tasks allocated, including consultation, planning, delivery and evaluation.
To promote and participate in play provisions within local communities, supporting
community volunteers to apply the playwork principles in their work with children and
young people.
To create play spaces for children and young people that support freely chosen, selfdirected play adhering to the Playwork Principles and UNCRC.
To interact positively with all children and young people attending the play provisions at
all times.
To provide and monitor materials and equipment that enable children to extend their
range of experiences.
To create an environment where all children can experience a wide range of play
opportunities, promoting National Participation Standards and the UNCRC.
To be aware of the 3CCP targets and work with the team on achieving them.
To communicate effectively with the Three Counties Play team, Children and Young
People, Parents, Communities and identified key stakeholders.
To assist in the development, planning and participation in local community events,
highlighting the importance of play throughout the three counties.
To use a range of intervention styles to enable children and young people to extend
their play, balancing risk, with the benefit to and wellbeing of children.
To contribute to the administration and evaluation of the play environment.
To assist in promoting Equal Opportunities for all children who attend community play
provisions, ensuring inclusive play in line with the UNCRC.
Ensure compliance with all Health and Safety, First Aid, Care and Social Services
Inspectorate for Wales regulations and other legal requirements associated with quality
play provisions where necessary.
General
To observe confidentiality in all aspects of work.
To undertake other such related duties as may be required from time to time.
To work evenings, weekends and school breaks when required, to meet the needs of the
service.
To participate in all necessary external and internal training as required meeting the
needs of the Three Counties Communities Play Programme.
To be available and take part in;
 team meetings
 regular individual supervision and performance appraisal with the Programme
Manager.
