THE NS50 RECOGNITION PACKAGE
1. What is the NS50 Recognition Package?
To commemorate 50 years of National Service, MINDEF and the MHA will offer the NS50
Recognition Package to National Servicemen to thank them for their contributions to defence.
The NS50 Recognition Package consists of $100 worth of NS50 vouchers for eligible past and
present national servicemen, as well as one year of free SAFRA / HomeTeamNS membership
for national servicemen who are serving / have served Operationally Ready NS.

Eligibility for the NS50 Recognition Package will be determined based on service status on
1 Jan 2017. NSFs, who enlist within the 2017 enlistment window, will also be given the NS50
Recognition Package after their enlistment.
2. I am a Full-Time National Serviceman. How and when will I get my package?
From mid-May to June 2017, the NS50 Recognition Package will be mailed directly to your official
address as on your NRIC, or address as registered with SAFRA/HomeTeamNS if you are an existing
SAFRA/HomeTeamNS member.

3. I am / was an Operationally-Ready National Serviceman (previously known as Reservist).
How will I get my package? How and when will I get my package?
From end-July 2017 onwards, you will receive your notification letter at your official address as
on your NRIC. The notification letter will contain more instructions on how to register for your
NS50 Recognition Package at SAFRA / HomeTeamNS’ Redemption Portal. The registration portals
will close on 30 June 2018. Alternatively, you can register for your NS50 Recognition Package
via mail, with the form and Business Reply Envelope that will be mailed to you along with your
notification letter.
If you are already an existing SAFRA/HomeTeamNS member (from 1 Jan 2017 onwards), your NS50
Recognition Package will be automatically mailed to you in mid-May to June 2017. You will receive
$100 worth of NS50 vouchers and a new membership card that will allow you to enjoy an additional
full year of membership benefits.
4. What should I look out for in the mail?
You will receive either a white envelope sent on Government Service, or a green SmartPac plastic
folder, that will contain your NS50 Recognition Package. Both will have the NS50 Logo printed
on them.

5. When can I expect to receive the NS50 Recognition Package after I opt-in from the
online portal/via mail?
The NS50 Recognition Package can be expected to be received within 4 to 6 weeks upon opt-in.
6. What are the validity periods for these benefits?
The NS50 vouchers are valid until 31 Dec 2018. The tenure of the free SAFRA/ HomeTeamNS
membership will be one year.
7. What are the NS50 vouchers? What can the vouchers be used for?
NS50 vouchers can be used to extend membership at the respective NS associations, or to make
purchases at over 6,000 participating merchant outlets island-wide.
8. I do not have access to the Internet to register for my NS50 Recognition Package.
Along with your notification letter, you will receive a form and Business Reply Envelope to register
for your NS50 Recognition Package. Please fill in this form and mail it back to register for the
Package. Alternatively, you may visit either your nearby SAFRA clubhouse (if you are a SAF national
serviceman) or HomeTeamNS clubhouse (if you are a Home Team national serviceman) to register
for your NS50 Recognition Package.
9. I am a national serviceman who changed services from the SAF to the SPF/SCDF during
NS (or vice versa). Am I eligible for SAFRA or HomeTeamNS membership? Can I choose which
type of membership I want to receive?
NSmen will receive the one-year complimentary membership according to the service that they
are posted to. Such membership, awarded under the NS50 Recognition Package, will not be
transferrable between SAFRA/HomeTeamNS.
10. I am a Full-Time National Serviceman who is disrupted from full-time NS. Am I eligible
for the NS50 Recognition Package?
Yes, you will receive an NS50 Recognition Package containing $100 worth of NS50 vouchers.
11. Can I obtain a refund for the SAFRA/HomeTeamNS membership which I have signed up
for earlier?
No, refunds for existing membership will not be provided. If you are or were an existing member
from 1 Jan 2017 onwards, a new membership card will be automatically mailed to you as part of
your NS50 Recognition Package. This new card will allow you to enjoy an additional full year of
membership benefits. This is an automatic process, and no action is required.

12. I have received my NS50 Recognition Package, but have lost or damaged my vouchers.
Can I be given a new set since I have not utilised my entitlement?
MINDEF and the MHA will not replace any lost, defaced or damaged vouchers.
13. I would like to register for the NS50 Commemorative PAssion Card.
Instructions on how to apply for the NS50 Commemorative PAssion Card will be included
in the NS50 Recognition Package that will be sent to you. Once you have received your
