COLUMBIA BASIN GIRLS SOFTBALL ASSOCIATION
COACHES’ CODE OF CONDUCT
I.
Objectives
A.
To promote the value of the team concept
B.
To build and develop the player’s character
C.
To teach fundamental softball skills and good sportsmanship
D.
To reward/recognize the effort and attitude rather than the win/lose situation
II.
Rules
A.
All coaches will be expected to:
1.
Conduct themselves in an adult manner and in a manner that will be a
credit to the team, the Association and the City of Moses Lake, Ephrata,
Quincy, Warden, or Royal City
2.
Refrain from smoking, drinking of alcoholic beverages and swearing in the
dugout and on the playing field
3.
Deal with disciplinary problems
B.
Coaches will be responsible for supervision of their team
C.
Coaches must demonstrate at all times, qualities of fairness, honesty and good
sportsmanship
III.
Goals
A.
Coaches are required to attend local clinics
B.
Each player is afforded the opportunity to participate in game situations (as set
forth in League Rules and Regulations)
IV.
Objectives Infractions of, Rules and Goals
A.
Uncontrolled emotions, i.e. anger, swearing, etc.
B.
Drinking, smoking, or use of controlled substance on the field or in the dugout or in
uniform
C.
Harassment of opposing players, managers/coaches and umpires
D.
Instructing a player to do physical harm to an opposing player
E.
Fighting
F.
Not affording the opportunity of participation to all players
V.
Penalty for Infractions
A.
Warning by the umpire
B.
Removal from the game by the umpire with a mandatory meeting with the Board
C.
One game suspension and a mandatory meeting with the Board
D.
Expulsion from the League
