Rajashekara Maiya - Group Lead-Product Strategy
Rajashekara Maiya is a Group Lead with in the ‘Product Strategy’ Group of Finacle. He is an
accountant by profession, and has more than 13 years of industry experience. He started as an
auditor of government held banks, private banks and multinational banks before joining Finacle
in 1997. Since then he is been part of the Product Management Group and now Product Strategy
of Finacle and has been instrumental and anchored many releases of the Product.
Maiya has special interest in the area of risk management, regulations and compliance aspects
with in banking vertical. He has published several thought papers and research papers in the
area of Risk management, Delivery channels, retail banking, compliance and regulations. Few of
his research papers are part of the reference library of Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of
India (ICFAI). Others include ‘The Banker’, ‘Asian Banker Journal’, ‘Arabian Banking and Finance’,
‘Finacle Connect’. He is also on the expert panel of ‘McKinsey Quarterly’.
Relevant experience
In Finacle, Maiya is responsible for Roadmap and Strategic direction of the product along with responsibilities for Alliance
and Acquisitions. He is also responsible for tracking latest regulatory and compliance trends in banking industry and create
awareness within and outside Finacle. Further, he is also responsible for incorporating some of those requirements into the
product features. Maiya has researched extensively on US Banking regulation and practice, Asian Banking regulation and
practices. He is also the resident expert on Islamic banking. He has conducted several workshops for Chartered Accountants
across India and Sri-lanka covering topics such as “Auditing in Computerized Environment”, “Finacle and Security, control
and audit features”.
Maiya has anchored the benchmarking Finacle against CoBIT standards for security, control and audit feature. He has also
anchored the Branch solution (offline functionalities) offering of Finacle. He anchored the Business Process Tool integration
and Referral modules in Finacle.
Maiya holds a master degree in commerce specializing in Banking, Costing and Taxation, he is also an Associate member of
Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.
