About Us
The United Churches of Galena Food Pantry is an outreach of
the United Churches of Galena, an ecumenical group organized
to foster communications and cooperation among the churches
of Galena, IL. The mission of the Food Pantry is to model
the love and compassion of Jesus Christ by providing food to
the hungry and needy people of the Galena, Illinois area.
The Food Pantry is a registered 501 (c) (3) public charity
that provides help to any resident of Illinois meeting the
income guidelines.
As much a part of the mission of providing food is modeling
the love and compassionate Jesus in serving those in need.
This task is carried out by an all-volunteer team with
donated food and or food purchased with cash donations. The
Food Pantry qualifies for and distributes food commodities
from the Emergency Food Program. Even the Food Pantry’s
facility is donated through the generosity of the Galena
State Bank.
The Food Pantry is an outreach program of the United
Churches of Galena and is staffed by a core of some 50
volunteers, from all walks of life but united by their
desire to minister to the needs of others in the name of
Jesus.
