Estimate of Cost to Provide Gas Main Extension: $3,076.82 Monthly Financing Option: $37.29 Estimate Good Until: July 30,2014 Consumers Energy CAP Project Manager Buddy Sheffer Tel #: 989-791-5670 Toll free #: 1-888-427-6246 Email address: [email protected] Consumers Energy CAP support center 2400 Weiss St. Rm 113, Saginaw, Ml 48602 1-800-477-5050 How much could I save with natural gas? The current statewide average for propane is $2.25/gal. Our current natural gas price is equivalent to $0.83 per gallon of propane. That is over $1.42 per gallon less when compared to the current statewide average of propane! A typical customer could save about $1700 per year. What are the next steps in the process? This is your estimate letter, in order for us to proceed you need to agree to the price quoted, and call or email your project manager (listed at the bottom of the letter) to tell them you would like a CAP main extension project to be set up. Consumers Energy will then send out marketing packets, which contain very useful information including project pricing, service hookups, and an application for natural gas service. How much customer participation is required for the project to be released for construction? If we receive 50% participation along the proposed route, Consumers Energy can then proceed with design and construction of the main extension project. What happens if we do not receive 50% participation? Unfortunately, if we do not receive 50% participation from your neighbors within the project range, the project will be cancelled. To avoid cancellation, talk to your neighbors who are within the project range and see if they will sign up for the gas main extension. If your neighbor waits to connect to the natural gas main at a later date, will they still have to pay the main contribution charge? Yes, your neighbors will still pay a main contribution charge, but the main contribution charge does depreciated by about 10% a year for the length of the loan, 10 years. Example: If your neighbor waits 5 years, he/she will have to pay 50% of the main contribution charge shown on your estimate letter. What does the $200 connection fee include? Every customer that connects to a new natural gas main, or an existing natural gas main, has to pay a $200 connection fee. Included in this fee is the installation of your meter, and up to 283ft of service piping measured from the edge of your property line for a typical residential home. If your home is set far off your road and will require more than 283ft of service piping, we charge an additional $9.68/ft. If your demand for natural gas is very high, you may qualify for a larger meter and additional footages will be included in the connection fee. Some exceptions may-apply.— Did my neighbors receive the same letter? No, since you put in the initial request for natural gas service, you were the only person to receive this estimate letter. If you agree to the price listed and decide to move forward with the recruiting process, Consumers Energy send out marketing packets to all of your neighbors within the project range. If the project receives the necessary participation and construction takes place, what will my yard look like upon construction completion? With most home services, we are able to install service lines with very minimal disturbance. If we do disturb your property, we will take reasonable care in putting it back the way we found it. This will not include, but is not limited to, seeding, sodding or landscaping. The natural gas main construction will occur within the right of way of the road and will be restored to the existing or better conditions.
