Slide the DPAC into the rack and align the holes of the DPAC with the rack. Step 2. Install and tighten with four rack screws. Panel Mount Step 1. Create the panel cutout per the dimensions listed. Step 2. Place the panel cutout over the desired mounting location and trace. Step 3. Make a smooth cut around the cutout. Step 4. Drill the four mounting holes per the drawing. Step 5. Insert the DPAC into the cutout. Step 6. Fasten the DPAC into the hole with the included washers and screws. DPAC Panel Cutout Template 2 Mounting DIN Rail Mount Step 1. Ensure that the DIN clips are securely fastened to the back of the DPAC with the provided screws and the integrated wire form DIN clip springs are pointing towards the top of the DPAC. Step 2. Ensure that the top of the integrated wire form spring is firmly connected to the top hat DIN rail. Step 3. Apply pressure to the DPAC in a downward motion and push back until the clips snap into place on the lower DIN lip. Surface Mount Step 1. Place the DPAC over the desired mounting location and trace the mounting holes. Step 2. Drill mounting holes. Step 3. Fasten the DPAC with washers and screws. 3 Wire It See the SEL-2440 Instruction Manual for details on appropriate wire sizes. Step 1. Connect appropriate power supply to terminal Z05 (+/H) and terminal Z07 (–/N). Note that power terminals are isolated from chassis ground. Step 2. Connect ground terminal GND to a rack frame or similar ground for proper safety and performance. Step 3. Connect discrete inputs and discrete outputs per application requirements. Inputs (Status and Alarms) Use digital inputs to monitor critical alarms or status points. Connect communications devices as required to rear-panel DB-9 serial PORT 2 (EIA-232), DB-9 serial PORT 3 (option dependent), 10/100BASE-T Ethernet port (RJ45 connector) or 100BASE-FX (LC connector) 1A, and 10/100BASE-T Ethernet port (RJ45 connector) or 100BASE-FX (LC connector) 1B. Step 5. Connect IRIG-B time-code input to terminal IRIG IN. IRIG-IN 4 Configure Control (DIP) Switches Easy Mode: Use the control (DIP) switches for configuring the DPAC. Step 1. Disconnect input power. Step 2. Remove the front panel. Step 3. Carefully flip the front panel over to expose the control (DIP) switches. Step 4. Set control (DIP) switch bank SW1, switch 1, to ON (1) = Easy Mode. Factory-default setting for all control (DIP) switches is OFF (0). Step 5. Set switches on control (DIP) switch bank SW2 to appropriate serial port settings for Port 2 and Port 3: • Protocol (SEL ASCII, DNP3, Modbus®, or MIRRORED BITS®) • +5 Vdc (if used) • Port Speed Step 6. Set switches on control (DIP) switch bank SW3 for Ethernet address, DNP3 Address, and Modbus address. The default Ethernet address is 192.168.0.n. Use this switch bank to define the last IP Octet, n (00–FF hex, 0–255 decimal). This value will also be the DNP3 address and Modbus address. Flexible Mode In Flexible Mode, all settings are configured with ACSELERATOR QuickSet® SEL-5030 Software or with a terminal emulator by using the DPAC command line interface. For applications that require more flexible configurations, see the Flexible Mode section in the SEL-2440 Instruction Manual. Please check the SEL website or SEL Compass® for the latest SEL-2440 Instruction Manual, Installation Guide, Data Sheet, and ACSELERATOR QuickSet® SEL-5030 Software. SEL-2440 DPACs are shipped with default passwords. To prevent unauthorized access, change default passwords to private passwords at installation. SEL shall not be responsible for damage resulting from unauthorized access. 6 Typical SCADA and MIRRORED BITS Connection The DPAC has default settings for DNP3 and Modbus. Your supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) easily integrates with the DPAC by using the default map (settings) shown in the SEL-2440 Instruction Manual. Refer to the DNP3 and Modbus sections in the instruction manual and the configuration settings above. When the device is energized the ENABLED LED illuminates and the ALARM LED extinguishes. Illuminates Device all LEDs Enabled Present Alarm Mode State I/O Activity Ethernet Serial Port Port Activity Activity Step 2. MODE on the front panel will illuminate solid when in Flexible Mode and will blink when in Easy Mode. Step 3. Verify Ethernet and serial port activity. The LNK LED illuminates if a valid, physical Ethernet connection is made. TX and RX LEDs illuminate to indicate traffic. Step 4. Input and output indicators on the front panel will illuminate solid when the associated I/O are asserted. Verify operation by reading inputs and controlling outputs with a polling master. Verify Configuration Step 1. Press the LAMP TEST pushbutton briefly to verify that all of the LEDs illuminate. Step 2. Press and hold LAMP TEST button for more than four seconds. The ALARM LED will flash letting you know the device is ready to read control (DIP) switch positions and IRIG-B time. (If an ALARM had occurred and the LED was already illuminated, then the ALARM LED will stay illuminated and will not flash.) Step 3. All control (DIP) switch positions can now be read and verified from the LEDs. IRIG-B time can also be verified.
