TEAM ENGLISH LANGUAGE NEWSPAPER OF SCHOOL №51 2017.3. (43) MARCH, 2017 Every Possible Idea... Our School Open House Day in School № 51 Hello, today our school №51 has Open House Day. That means, that you can visit tour school and know more about it and about the pupils. 1-st shift 2-nd shift Beginning at 8 A.M. Beginning at 2 P.M. Ending at 2 P.M. Ending at 7 P.M. Now we are standing outside. You can find our school building rather big. It has three floors with 10 classrooms on each. By the way we have two gyms, a big school canteen with very very tasty food, a stuff room, a medical room, biology, chemistry, physics labs and so on. There are flowers and tall green trees in front of it in summer and beautifully decorated New Year Tree in winter. Now, let's go inside, where you will have a little excursion. I think, we should start with the organization of the school day. Pupils are studying in two shifts. Lessons begin at 8 a.m. and finish at 7 p.m. There are seven lessons in one shift, but pupils usually have only 6, 5 or 4 lessons. There are also six breaks, and two of them are long breaks. School № 51 is a typical Russian school with specializing in Russian, Maths and English. Pupils can learn ordinary ones, like Literature and Maths and at the same time they can learn unusual ones, like Arts, Psychology or Information Technology. During the school year children can go on outings or be engaged in after-class activities. For many years they are spending there pupils can make new friends, know more about the world or try themselves in different subjects. Besides you can see, that classrooms and corridors are decorated for the New Year and Christmas. It's children's work! Also there is an exhibition at the staircase between the 1-st and 2-d floor. Everything there was made by pupils, by their own hands! And what about the teachers? The teachers are excellent! They are all very clever, patient and know, how to work with children and grown ups. Some of them have been teaching several subjects for many years! Of course, we can tell you more and more, but one day isn't enough. Now you can go to the school canteen and have dinner. We hope you like our school very much! Roman Stepanov, form 8V page 2 Game Review: What? Where? When? This beautiful game took place in our school on February 27, 2017. 3 teams participated In the game 10B, 10V and 9G forms. Game program was one of the teachers - Inga Vladimirovna Sintsova. Questions were related to the Great Patriotic War. This is a very patriotic devoted play as it’s an important topic. All the guys were very amicably. Unfortunately our team 10B didn't know the answers to many questions. But we tried. Most of all I liked the first question about the tank. This game went well. Everybody found an interesting question, and learned a lot. Team 9G class won this competition . The second place went to 10B. And the third place team 10V class. I'd like to thank everyone who participated in the creation of this wonderful game. Game What? Where? When? I remember for a long time! Yulia Votyakova, form 10B School English club was opened by our little smart pupil and their gorgeous teachers! Evil witch enchanted all kids from Englalend and only a little tiny girl Lucy wasn’t enchanted because she had a magic phrase which he had known but forgot. Lucy needed a help to make her peers kind, polite and responsible like pupils from the second form of School No. 51! When children sang songs, played games or received poems, one letter appeared. We heard so many wonderful songs about pets, chocolate cakes and children’s lovely families. Also we made funny exercises, asked and answered questions , read a lot of poems. Finally phrase « I LOVE ENGLISH » appeared and all the kids said those magic words together. Lucy came back home and was so grateful to the guys for their help. At the end of the event children ceremoniously promised to be hardworking students and love English! We hope that such events will be organized more often and our students will delight us! Maria Paladich, form 9B 2017.3. (43) page 3 English in Our Life Eco-problems in my hometown Nowadays ecology is much spoken in newspapers, on television and on the radio. There are a lot of ecological problems in Kirov, too. I think the main eco-problems in our home town are litter in the streets, air and water pollution and cutting down trees. The first eco-problem is litter in the streets. I`m very worried when people throw away litter. Soon there won`t be any more places free of it. When people throw garbage in the streets instead of putting it in bins, our town becomes dirty and not attractive for dwellers and tourists. Now some of the measures are taken to deal with this problem. For example, each spring people organize cleaning days called “subtonics”, also the are special bins for different types of garbage. In my opinion, we should learn recycle and reuse things instead of throwing them away. As for the second problem, there are so many factories and cars in Kirov that pollution is awful. Air and water are made dirty and I really think our health is affected. I think it would be a good idea to have a ‘’no car’’ day. Everybody would have to use other forms of transport-like buses, trains, bikes or even just your feet-for one day. There wouldn`t be so much pollution and the roads would be much safer. The third eco-problem in our hometown is cutting down trees. I find this situation worrying because trees are the green lungs of the planet. If trees are cut down. a lot of animals will disappear, but what is more important – there won’t be clean air to breathe . I think, to get out of this situation, people need to create parks, plant more trees and flowers. In conclusion, we must care about our hometown. We should help it become clean and attractive for tourists and for us because taking care of the planet is everybody`s business. Elina Yevdokimova, form 7 V page 4 Inside the Theatre Everyone likes to go to the theater to watch interesting and exciting plays. You can see dramas and comedies there. But only a little group of people knows how hard it is to rehearse the play to perfection. Rehearsals can last till night and start early in the morning. It's really an exhausting process. Actors do their best to live on the stage, so everyone believes them. But not only actors and the producer take part in the creation of the play. The work of costumiers and decorators is very important. They help to make a deep immersion. Makeup artists create absolutely different characters. Illuminators are very important too. They create magic things with light. So there are a lot of people who work as hard as they can to show us the magic of the theater. And they manage to do their work perfectly well. Every time you go to the theater you are carried away by the play. You admire the characters. You believe in every word that pronounced on the stage. At that moment you are a part of the theatre. And the theatre can't exist without its audience. Eugene Nikulin, form 8 V Dance Studio We would like to tell you about the studio “Magic Move”. In Russia there are many national dishes, for example borsh, pelmeni, blini (pancakes), solyanka, and many more. They are very tasty. Also in Russia there are many traditions. So, in our country there are places that we would advise to visit, for example the Moscow Kremlin, the Summer garden, St. Petersburg bridges and the Rostral Columns. We love our country and we are proud of it! Sofia Kutergina & Daria Konysheva, form 7A 2017.3. (43) Our Winners My success from the first Nowadays there’s no man in the world who don’t get any awards or prizes for different reasons: sport achievements, music awards, literature prizes and etc. Even children become winners in different spheres of a life and their activities. It isn’t important what aim do you choose. The result of your achievements depends on diligence, self-reliance and lack of nervousness of people. Now I’d like to tell you about my first success during the Pupils Conference «The things we like. The things we need». It was a meeting of students whose projects were declared like the best. My project was one of them. This topic was «Unusual means of transport. Where and why are they used»? Most of you probably ask me why I’ve chosen this theme. The main reason of this choice was my interest for types of transport. I wanted to know more about kinds of transport that are used all over the world. Suddenly I noticed a picture where a floating bus was shown. Its name was Harry Hippo. It’s a unique 40 passenger vessel that offers land and water sightseeing tours of Toronto, a city of Canada. There were plenty of pictures with the most exciting and attractive for my audience. There’s also a three-wheeled wagon, which is controlled by a rickshaw. These open air taxis were named «tuk-tuks» for their sound that their two cycle engines make. This mean of transport is very popular in many countries of Asia . Nevertheless, my favorite vehicle is a Suspension Railway. It’s the oldest electric elevated railway with hanging cars in the world and it’s a unique system. You can see these kinds of transport in Germany, particular in Wuppertal. I have been dreaming about a travel on this kind of transport as I want to have a feeling of a flight as the train moves on the rails located at a height of about 8 to 12 meters above the river Wupper and the valley road. I think that everyone will enjoy of a travelling on a Suspension Railway if he or she wants. When I finished my project, everyone in classroom applauded me and I understood that my topic will be remembered by the conference’s audience as even some teachers said me a couple of warm words about my speech and project in common. I got a diploma for participating in the Pupil’s Conference. It was my first and presentation where I was making a perfect speech! It’s a fascinating feeling! Despite I can’t forget about projects of other pupils in my school. For example, I appreciated a presentation of Yana Reison. She’s in an 11 form. Her topic was «Los Glaciers National Park» She described us a beautiful place where I could see the beauty of a nature and originality of this area. I found her project informative and well-organized s she had used plenty of bright pictures that were made her presentation more interesting and attractive. Actually, I had heard lots of memorable and wonderful topics during our conference. Everyone made good stories about their themes and they achieved unbelievable heights in English. As for me this conference became not only a new experience of improving my English knowledge, but also a perfect success! I was glad to get a diploma and hope that it’s only a beginning of my awards in this sphere of a life! Now I have a dream to become an interpreter in the future and I’ll do everything for making a reality of my wish! Max Suvorkov, form 10B 2017.3.
