Best Practices
Shop Floor Time Best Practices
 Keep it simple
 One of the biggest mistakes is trying to overcomplicate the system
 Find a good balance between usable functionality and complexity of setup
 Remember, you can always turn on additional functionality later
 Use the Templates
 Templates are provided for all configuration screens
 Clone the templates and add XYZCORP_ to create your own
Confidential Deltek 2015
Shop Floor Time Best Practices
 Utilize Costpoint’s extensive defaulting logic to your advantage
 The more data elements you try to capture on a timecard then more mistakes the
employee can make
 Try just having the Work Order or MO on the timecard
 Use timesheet defaults
 PAG/Labor Group
 Employee/PAG
 Employee/Project
 Project Timesheet
 Works best with Indirect Projects
Confidential Deltek 2015
Shop Floor Time Best Practices
 Only track direct employees in SFT
 If you are currently using T&E to track all employees, try leaving your salaried employees
there and move your direct employees to SFT
 This does require the maintenance of two timesheet systems
Confidential Deltek 2015
Shop Floor Time Best Practices
 Interfaces
 Can be set to run as often as desired.
 It is not recommended to schedule in less than 5 minute intervals
 If needed, a manual export can be done to transfer data
