Collaborating for 2015 PA One Book Activities

Each year, published is an Activity Guide associated with the PA One Book that contains activities, game,
original songs and finger plays, all of which align with the PA Early Learning Standards, appropriate for
children ages 3-5 years.
In preparation for the 2015 PA One Book, Number One Sam by Greg
Pizzoli, OCDEL program staff (Keystone STARS, PA Pre-K Counts, Head
Start, Early Intervention, Nurse Family Partnership, Child Care Works,
Parents as Teachers, Parent Child Home Program), LEARN Partners
and Pennsylvania Library staff are invited to submit activities, game,
original songs and finger plays.
Staff will have an opportunity to submit activities, game, original
songs and finger plays, which meets the guidelines for submission
(below) to be included in the 2015 PA One Book Activity Guide.
Approximately 7-10 per learning standards activities will be selected
for inclusion in the 2015 PA One Book Activity Guide.
If selected for inclusion, the name of the individual who submitted the activity, game, original song or
finger play, the name of their program and program location will be included in the 2015 PA One Book
Activity Guide.
Past Activity Guide Examples: Past PA One Book Activity Guides, such as A Bus for Us or Stop Snoring
Bernard are available online for reference when creating and submitting activities.

Submission Guidelines:
1. Individual submitting the activity, game, original song or finger play must be a current staff
within an OCDEL program (Keystone STARS, PA Pre-K Counts, Head Start, Early Intervention,
Nurse Family Partnership, Child Care Works, Parents as Teachers, Parent Child Home Program),
registered LEARN Partner and/or Pennsylvania Library staff.
2. Activities, games, original songs or finger plays must relate to the 2015 PA One Book selection,
Number One Sam by author Greg Pizzoli.
3. Activities, games, original songs or finger plays must be appropriate for a child, age 3-5 years.
4. Activities, games, original songs or finger plays must be applicable for one-on-one engagement
with a child, with a small group (2 or more) of children, with a large group 6 -10 of children,
AND/OR a whole group activity (such as a classroom participating at same time).
5. Activity must apply to at least one of the Key Learning Areas within the 2014 Pre-Kindergarten
PA Early Learning Standards. It is not necessary for submission to identify the Standard Area.

6. Individuals may submit more than one activity; however, each activity must be submitted
individually.
7. All activities, games, original songs, or finger plays must be submitted electronically at the 2015
PA One Book Activity Submission website.
