Save CO2 with Contargo The CO2 Footprint of a Container Transport* Combined transport (truck-barge combination, export) Transport by truck * Transport Chain from Wattenheim to Rotterdam via Ludwigshafen Terminal | Container in Medium Weight Class (13 tonnes gross weight) Take the better route ! It has been know for some time that transporting a container by barge or rail is more CO2-friendly than transporting it unimodally by truck. Our Transport Planner, IMTIS, shows exactly how much CO2 can really be saved. Using this transport planner, which is freely accessible to everyone, concrete figures for the CO2 emissions of your container transport can be obtained. A comparison is made between transport with the inclusion of a barge or goods train, and transport to the same destination by direct truck. Due to continually higher environmental and climate protection requirements in society and the economy, many shippers are demanding concrete information about CO2 emissions from their transport service providers. Here, IMTIS is a great help. The calculation of CO2 values by Contargo is based on average consumption values. The analysis of emissions takes into account not only the consumption values themselves, but also, among other things, the carbon emissions involved in producing the fuels. The energy consumption from handling the container in the terminal and from administration is also included. Information for barge transport differentiates between export and import, and offer alternatives for several different terminals near the destination. CO2 emissions can also be differentiated according to the weight class of the container contents.
