Thank you for your request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 about
Wheelie Bins received on 14th January 2016.
Request
I am writing to you under the Freedom of Information Act.
Please provide me with the following information.
- The number of Cardiff council distributed wheelie bins (including all sizes and
types, recycling, garden waste etc, stolen, misplaced or lost since 2010.
- Please provide the above as a total and as a breakdown of types of bin if
possible.
- The total cost of replacing lost or stolen wheelie bins, from 2010 to the last
record logged. Please provide this as a breakdown of a cost to the council, and
the total cost for residents who are charged the cost of being provided a new
bin.
- If possible, please provide this information as breakdown between electoral
wards.
I am happy to receive the above information via any means of electronic
communication, by letter or for documents sent in any preferred format –
although preferably via email.
If FOI requests of a similar nature have already been asked could you also
please include your responses to those requests.
I would be grateful if you could confirm in writing that you have received this
request, and I look forward to hearing from you in the near future.

We are not able to provide a breakdown of costs as requested. We can
provide all domestic bin purchases since 2013. Again historical data prior to
2013 is not available as this is not stored.

Our records do not separate out lost, stolen and damaged bins prior to 27th
July 2015. Therefore the figures included all replacement bins due to
damage, lost or stolen.
Since 27th July 2015, however, a £25 charge for lost and stolen wheeled
bins was introduced. 219 paid replacement £25 for Lost or Stolen bins
- If possible, please provide this information as breakdown between electoral
wards.
Unfortunately we are not able to provide the information requested as a a
breakdown between electoral wards data is not collected and therefore this
information is not held on a ward by ward basis.
