From Left Field
Win one of two Muirfield
Easter Hampers!
Welcome to our Autumn Enews. After a
warm first week of April we were been
blasted with a very cold southerly spell
of strong winds and tank filling rains. A
taste of winter ahead of time has
probably sharpened your focus on
planning winter holidays to warmer
destinations. We hope you enjoy our
articles that follow and that the weather
improves for the rest of Autumn.
The past three months have been very
exciting and busy ones for the Muirfield
Team. In February, our Managing
Partner, Melinda celebrated 10 years of
excellent work and service at
Muirfield. We believe Melinda's
financial planning skills are outstanding
and that her knowledge of Centrelink
and Aged Care matters in particular, to be second to none.
In March, Jane celebrated 25 years with Muirfield having joined the
team way back in 1992! As our client surveys and responses to
questionnaires attest, Jane is a client favourite here at Muirfield. Her
friendly voice on the phone, her interest in your welfare, her commitment
to resolving your queries in a timely and professional manner are her
trademarks. Put simply, Jane cares. We thought Jane's milestone was
so significant we presented her with a book of really positive and
heartfelt client testimonials that brought a tear to her eye.
With Easter almost upon us
we're giving away 2 choc
filled Easter hampers.

To round out our celebrations this quarter on March 11 Andrew and Jen
married in a stunning ceremony in country NSW. Andrew had moved to
Sydney in 2014 to be with Jen. When Jen's work changed to Melbourne
it allowed Andrew to return to Muirfield - a win-win situation. Their
wedding was held in the beautiful gardens and Nursery of Jen's parents’
property and was followed by a Margaret River honeymoon.
Clients Being Incredible
And for those interested in the recent retiree, Hayden and Sally have
been rather busy. As well as celebrating Andrew and Jen's wedding
they also celebrated the wedding of their daughter Georgia to Daniel in
January. With their 3 children now 'someone elses responsibility' they
are, like many of you, considering warm winter travel destinations.
To celebrate some of our
clients who are truly loving
and taking advantage of life,
we’ve launched a new
feature in our eNews to talk
Upcoming Superannuation Seminar
On Friday, 12 May at Simonds Stadium (Geelong
Football Ground) we will be hosting a seminar covering
all the 'nuts and bolts' of the upcoming Superannuation
changes. The seminar will focus on the reduction in
about what you’re up to.
Nola F
Recently Nola F. was
featured in Horizon
Motorhomes’ article
‘Celebrate Aussie Women
on the Road’. Nola, who has
always been an adventurer,
purchased a motorhome 14
months ago and decided to
start travelling around the
country, accompanied by
her cat Polly. Over the
course of adventures, Nola
has racked up over
21,000kms and plans to
keep on going.
When asked about her
adventures and her advice
for other women who might
be seeking the same
independence Nola
responded, “Never feel like
you can’t go somewhere or
do something just because
you haven’t got someone
with you…and never leave
home without your coffee
machine or a bottle of
champagne.”

your ability to contribute to super, changes to
Transition To Retirement pensions, the new $1.6million
cap and the strategies you may consider in light of all
these changes.
We will also provide an update regarding the Federal
budget announcements of May 9th and the impact
they may have on our clients’ financial welfare.
Whilst the seminar may not be as enjoyable as a movie
night, for some, this technical information could be very
important - especially should you need to act pre June
30.

Market Update
In the share market, the All Ordinaries finished the
Quarter 3% higher than where we began the year. It
caps off a good 12 months for Australian shares which
have risen 16% through that period. This has provided
our client portfolios with a percentage return well in
excess of the current incredibly low bank term
deposit rates of 2.7% pa. According to economist
Shane Oliver, shares are likely to continue to trend
higher. Bonds are providing relatively low returns, but
Oliver expects yields to rise in the coming months.

As part of our commitment Muirfield has established a

The Philanthropy 500 program aims to engage 100
new members who will donate $500 or more, for a
high-impact gift to the Geelong Community. Donations
to Philanthropy 500 are tax deductible. An
annual grant of $25,000 will be made to a local charity
