DESCRIPTION
National Alliance for Mental Illness presents the NAMI Provider Education Program, a 15-hour
program designed to be taught by a five-person teaching team made up of two family members
of individuals living with mental illness; two individuals living with mental illness; and one mental
health professional who is also either a family member or an individual living with mental illness.
This course is delivered to mental health professionals to educate the important practice of
involving family caregivers in the process of hospitalization, discharge, treatment planning,
follow up and monitoring patient care.
A. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Commitment to teaching minimum two 15-hour programs within a year
Required to complete NAMI Provider training program
Educating Service Provider Professionals of the importance of involving family
caregivers in the process of hospitalization, discharge, treatment planning, follow up and
monitoring patient care
B. QUALIFICATIONS
Over 18 years of age
Lived experience as someone who has experienced mental illness and/or addiction is a
prerequisite for this role
Instructors are responsible for their own transportation; however we will provide a
honorarium for parking and mileage
Approved Criminal Background Check

Ability to listen and communicate effectively with others

Support for the Vision, Mission and Values of AMHS-KFLA and FRC
Willingness to present a positive image of NAMI, AMHS-KFLA and the FRC in the

Previous experience with public speaking
