Tree Descriptions RPM Trees Black Walnut: A fast-growing Midwest native tree of bottomlands and open fields. Its beautiful, finegrained wood is prized for woodworking and quality veneer. Nutmeats enjoyed by humans and wildlife. White Oak: A large, majestic, and long-lived oak that holds year long interest. A dominant tree in many Ozark woods with round lobed leaves and smooth, medium sized acorns. Swamp White Oak: A large tree with broad crown. Leaves turn varied shades in fall and bronze to yellow. Swamp White Oak tolerates both upland and wetland sites. Bur Oak: Largest acorns and leaves of all the oaks. Slow–growing and long–lived, it has a magnificent form in old age. Northern Red Oak: Fast growing, long-lived, statuesque shade tree. Fall color from russet to bright red. Redbud: A native favorite and harbinger of spring that explodes with rosy pink flowers in April. Native Redbud does well in sun to dappled shade and adapts to any average garden soil. White Pine: A large evergreen used as a specimen, in plantings, windbreaks, or visual screens. Norway Spruce: A large evergreen coniferous tree which occurs throughout northeast Europe. Norway Spruce is prized for blue-green needle color and excellent landscape form. RPM Shrubs Brilliant Red Chokeberry: A small, multi-branched shrub. Showy white spring flowers followed by large, red fall berries and scarlet fall foliage. Redosier Dogwood: Open, spreading shrub with low, horizontal branches. Plants spread easily by stolons, or natural layering of lower stems. Dark, blood-red bark provides winter interest. Saskatoon Serviceberry: A rounded shrub with deep purple/black fruit. Sweet and good for eating or making jelly, Saskatoon Serviceberry is also a drought tolerant species. Hazelnut: A short rounded shrub with edible nuts that are eaten by wildlife.
