you are here. There is a lot to learn in this class so
hold on tight, we are going to move fast!
About Me
 I am a mother of 3 boys ages 7, 10 and 12
 I am the Class of 2016 advisor
 I taught for 7 years in New Jersey before moving to




PA
I took 6 years off to stay home with my children
This is my 4th year at Sun Valley High school and I
love it here
This is my 2nd year teaching AP Biology
I’ve taught Anatomy & Physiology all 4 years here at
the Valley
Success
 Last year was the first year with the new AP Biology
curriculum
 We had a very successful year
 Every student who took the class is better prepared
for College Biology
 Scores: 4 students earned a 4, 7 students earned a 3
Grading
 Test/Quiz=70%
 Lab/activities=20%
 Home work=10%
E-text and Mastering Biology
 We are using a digital book this year
 Please ask your child to share with you the e-text and
mastering Biology.
 There are certain system requirements that will
improve the use of the book on your personal
computers.
 This is where we are headed both in HS and college
 In college this drastically reduces the cost of books so
the better the students are at using them, the better
they will be in college

Labs, labs and more labs
 We have to do 8 inquiry based labs this school year
 Here are a few that we will do
Electrophoresis
Transpiration
Behavior Lab
Artificial selection
Success depends on consistent effort
 To be successful at this level, it requires consistent
work.
 I tell the students that no homework listed does not
mean no homework
 They should be reviewing, reading ahead, studying
vocabulary, using mastering biology tutorials,
Bozeman science, khan academy regularly.

 It is always my goal to prepare students for success
in what ever future they choose first.
