PRESPL is a company formed in Mar 2011 under the aegis of Bermaco and
headquartered at ‘Bermaco’ Navi Mumbai Office.
The key focus of PRESPL is to address the principal issues of biomass fuel
supply management.
PRESPL looks into aggregation, processing, transportation, storage, cost
optimization and supply to biomass based power plants, cogeneration plants,
process boilers, etc.
Encouraged by initiatives of Bermaco Group & PRESPL in the field of Generation of
Green Power, International Equity funds evinced Interest and invested in the Equity
of PRESPL out of the funds earmarked by them for such initiatives.
Lt Col Monish Ahuja (Retd), a lead promoter & Managing Director of PRESPL, bagged
Biomass Energy Man of the Year 2013 Award.
International Conference On Innovation & IPR-ICII2015
• Fuel Collection is a big challenge and is the key for running
the biomass based industry on sustained basis.
• Biomass Power Plants have shut down and are not able to
sustain the PLF due to supply chain management &
biomass pricing issues.
• Biomass Power Plants are running at loss even after
commissioning because of non-availability of biomass fuel
throughout the year.
• PRESPL bridges the gap between Biomass Based Industry
and Biomass Fuel with assured biomass SCM practices.
International Conference On Innovation & IPR-ICII2015
• Biomass based plant is inhibited due to inadequate site
specific information on biomass availability.
• Non existence of mechanism for collection, processing,
transportation and storage and feed to the plant on
continuous basis round the year.
• First time in India, PRESPL is handling and supply of
1000MT of biomass on a daily basis.
International Conference On Innovation & IPR-ICII2015
Starts four-five months before the harvest season
•Survey and Feedback recording and analysis
•Identification and setting up of Collection centers
according to the available data
•Advertisement and awareness programs in IPP catchment area
via mass media, social societies, community and religious
centers.
•Seeking help from local administrative bodies to prevent
burning of biomass by farmers.
•Identifying and contracting with labour and fuel contractors.
International Conference On Innovation & IPR-ICII2015
• Fuel Processing in fields – Cutting, Baling etc.
• Logistics planning and Transportation of fuel from
fields to CC and/or to Plant.
• Smooth functioning(Operation and maintenance) of CCs,
weighing, storing, processing(if required) and security.
• Contractor/VLE Management, advertisements and
awareness programs.
• Continuous and multi-level training and skill honing of Field
Officers, Technicians, Collection centers, Contractors
(Balers, labourers).
• Ensuring Fuel Safety.

Socio Economic Impact on Rural Development
PRESPL’s activities have created a huge positive impact on lives of people in the areas of operation.
Job Creation
Biomass Supply Chain is possibly the most labour intensive energy source. Biomass
supply chain development will bring about significant job creation in unskilled and
semi-skilled labour in India depending on the scale of production
Additional Source of
Revenue
PRESPL is providing additional source of revenue to farmers through sale of the
feedstock which otherwise used to be burnt. Currently ~15,000 households are
benefitting from this revenue source and getting a better standard of living.
Environmental
Benefits
Use of biomass is more environment friendly since it is carbon neutral. Added
environmental benefits of not burning the feedstock waste but using it to extract
energy. Biomass power plants also have lower GHG emissions.
Awareness Program
for Villagers
PRESPL, jointly with process & power plants, organizes various awareness programs for
villagers like healthcare camps, banking assistance, education drives etc. So far,
PRESPL has assisted approx. 90 VLEs in setting up their bank accounts.

Biomass Supply Chain Mechanism (Paddy Straw)
Step 1: Harvested crop is baled using
mechanized balers
Per Baler :10 Jobs per Day X 60 Days
(Harvest Season) = 600 ManDays
Step 2: Paddy bales are
Step 3: Paddy bales are stored at fuel
transported to collection centers collection centers Storage, Stacking
Per Tractor Trolley: 6 Jobs X 60
Loading Unloading : 20 Jobs X 60
Days = 360 ManDays
Days = 1200 ManDays
Total Mandays : 2160 Mandays Per Unit Baler ( For 12 MW Biomass Based Power Plant, Punjab)
Average Job Created due to Biomass ( Paddy Straw) SCM Mechanism For Biomass Based Plant
having 125 Balers = (Number Of Balers X Total Mandays )/ 365 Days
= (125 X 2160) / 365
= 740 Green Jobs/Day

Total Mandays : 4320 Mandays Per Unit Shredder ( For 13 MW Biomass Based Plant, Maharashtra)
Average Job Created due to Biomass ( Cotton Stalk) SCM Mechanism For Biomass Based Plant
having 120 Shredders = (Number Of Shredders X Total Mandays )/ 365 Days

•One of the principal challenges facing developers investing in a biomass
project is to ensure that a secure and cost-effective supply of biomass fuel is
in place. The larger fraction of cost in biomass energy generation originates
from the logistics and storage operations. PRESPL is optimizing fuel
purchasing through analysis, processes, technology and integrated
networking.
•PRESPL has been investing more in people, processes and technology to
solve fuel management challenges.
Mission
We acknowledge the importance of rural
growth and will endeavor to improve
lifestyle of rural population of the
country we work in with a sustainable
model.
