I would like to thank Mark Singleton for his help, he spent one whole day in the club house
with the Senior’s checking their cards and pointing out to them where they had not filled
out the cards properly, he tried to get as many of the men on the Wednesday, this was more
difficult because they have odd tee times.
Nearest the Pin. Would it be prudent for the Pro shop to put up on the men’s board the
name of the gentleman who has won this prize and how much he won as they do for the pro
shop Stableford. I have been asked if I know and have to say I don’t.
Action: JR to request above from the Pro-shop

Team Captains’ Reports
Avalon A: CW: Since the last meeting, we have played two matches, May 28th home to
Long Sutton, winning 5 – 0, then on the 25th June home to Orchardleigh, losing 3 – 2. Our
next match is at home to Western-Super-Mare on the 17th July.
3
Avalon B: CA: A lot has happened since our last meeting in May, England football team
out of the Euro cup, Brexit from Europe, new prime minster, but most important Wheathill
B has won their first game of the season. The cream is finally coming to the top (I wish), it
was against Cannington 4-1, also we drew 2½ - 2½ at their place. Other results, good home
draw against the runaway leaders Mendip 2½ - 2½, but unfortunately we lost at their place
4½ - ½, we were unlucky, they turned up. The other result, we deliberately lost the game 2-3
to give the C team a chance of going up. The results have kept us off the bottom, but by no
means clear. Apart from the results, an improvement this season in the players being
available, compared to last season. Three games to go, my job could be on the line, sleepless
nights!
Avalon C: DK: After playing Isle of Wedmore home and away taking equal amount of
points [ fair result ] Having a good result of points from Wheathill B then came a shock
against Mendip at home, A suprise winning result 4 1 from Burham and Berrow. that result
has put us into 2nd place 5 points clear of Wedmore. Looking forward to the last 3 games
hopefully we will remain 2nd in the league.
3 Counties A: GH: We’ve played 4 matches since our last meeting
14/05/16 - Home vs Folke, halved 2 1/2 - 2 1/2
21/05/16 - Away vs Cannington A, won 3-2
4/06/16 - Away vs Long Sutton, lost 4-1
18/06/16 - Home vs Long Sutton, won 5-0
We’re third in the league and first in the reserves but hard to judge properly because teams
have played an uneven number of games.
3 Counties B: BB:
21st May - Cannington B at home - draw 2 1/2-2 ½
28th May - Charminster at home - lost 4-1
18th June - Sturminster Marshall away - lost 3-2
9th July - Charminster away - lost 4 1/2 - ½
We are still doing well in the reserve Steve Harris Trophy, won 4 lost 1.

Two comps on one card
CW: Some members have played two separate competitions at the same time, using only
one card with one set of score. This is not acceptable. Please see the following from David
Bentley, L&RGU Handicap advisor:
Quote
“You can not use the same score to address your handicap twice in qualifying competitions
because that would mean potentially two reductions or increases for the same score. This
could potentially mean playing off the wrong handicap if the score cause an increase that
changed handicap. For instance; a player plays off 12.4 (playing 12). In the first round he
incurs a 0.1 increase, which means for the second round he is playing off 12.5 (playing 13),

which is a different category, so the buffer zones change. Depending on which round is
