Our staff joined their elementary colleagues on Friday for a day of professional learning. Our theme for the day was "How childhood trauma and other outside influences affect our students." Teachers chose from a variety of work sessions to learn more about a variety of topics, including anxiety in students, occupational therapy techniques to use in the classroom, and a classroom management tool called DOJO, just to name a few. This morning, Ms. McCauley led our LSW by taking teachers to visit the outdoor classroom. Teachers then had time to craft a lesson that will utilize the outdoor classroom. Thanks again to those who volunteered to help spruce it up. We are working hard to put it to good use! Ms. Phelps has been experimenting by taking classes outside, and the students have been very engaged and excited to have the opportunity to learn outside! CLOSE BUY FUNDRAISER Please remember to return the completed yellow & white copies of the Close Buy order form and all monies collected (checks made out to PES) by Friday, October 14th. Orders are being sent out that day. Any late orders will need to be placed on line by parent, shipped directly to your home, subject to UPS freight charges, and will arrive later than the shipment to the school. Thank you for your support. Phippsburg School’s Picture Day is tomorrow-‐ Friday, October 14th. Classes will be called to the camera beginning first thing in the morning, so please be sure your child is ready when he/she arrives at school. If ordering pictures, children must bring their completed order form with payment to the camera. DENTAL CLINIC Tooth Protectors Inc. is holding a dental clinic at our school December 8, 2016. If your child is eligible, and you are interested in services, please return the completed and signed permission form to school before October 21st. BUS DRIVER APPRECIATION October 26th is our Bus Driver Appreciation Day, though every day we can show how much we appreciate them by being polite, safe and always following the basic bus rules. LOST AND FOUND Please be sure to check the Lost and Found areas, especially by the exit, since jackets and sweatshirts are accumulating again. Please join the Phippsburg Rec. on Sunday, Dec. 11th; bus will leave Phippsburg School at 11am, show time is at 1pm. We have 21 tickets left: 17 adults at $25.00 and 4 students at $15.00 each. PHIPPSBURG COMMUNITY TRICK OR TRUNK Please join us October 31st at the field next to the school for some Halloween fun. Set up will start at 4PM, and event starts promptly at 5PM. This is a last-‐minute decision after hearing some concerns from parents about not wanting to leave town this year for Trick or Treating. I am hoping this will make it a lot easier to get Trick or Treating done in one spot, and have fun with our friends. Let’s make this happen! I am looking for volunteers who would like to join us in decorating their trunks, or truck beds, and passing out candy. Nothing fancy is needed; maybe a pumpkin or two on or in your trunk will be perfect. If you would like to dress up, too, that would be great. We also need trick or treaters. We will have candy on hand for refill, if you run out. We will have cider and donut holes available. If you are interested in donating a gallon or two of cider, donut holes or candy for refills, please let me know. Also, anyone wishing to trunk (hand out candy) must enter with me. FMI, or to sign up, please call or text Michelle Sloan @841-‐3161 or [email protected]. Donations can also be dropped off to Lisa at the Town hall. Hope to see you there! Let’s start planning for a bigger event next year!
