PURPOSE:
Doug Hoell, Director, NCEM. EM Community, our next Forum is scheduled for
Wednesday, January 18th. We will host the meeting at the new State Emergency
Operations Center, and provide you with an opportunity to tour the facility as a part of
our agenda. Additionally, I would like to share with you my vision for the year 2012,
and offer Gordon Deno, the NCEMA president, an opportunity to share his planning
and focus as well. Also included in our agenda will be information on the new
Department of Public Safety, winter storm planning and readiness, lessons learned in
disaster recovery, the future of our training and education program, a discussion on
our experience with NCSPARTA (Web EOC), and other topics related to planning,
logistics and operations. I invite you to plan to attend and actively participate in the
discussion.
Gordon Deno, President, NCEMA. Hello everyone! Our first EM Forum for 2012 is
coming up soon. It will be held at the new State EOC in Raleigh on January 18th. I hope that
all of you can make it. This will be a great opportunity for us all to see the new facility and
get together to share thoughts and ideas on various EM issues. These forums are your
opportunity to weigh in on the issues that concern you and your jurisdiction. Remember, EM
in North Carolina is not just a local issue or a state issue. EM involves all of us working
together for the betterment of our state. So, I hope that I see all of you there. Be safe!

From I40 West (going East) towards Raleigh:
Take Exit 289, Wade Ave.
Exit on the Blue Ridge Road Exit
Turn Left onto Blue Ridge Road.
Go to the first left, District Drive, turn Left.
Go to Gold Star Drive, turn Right.
Turn in at the first Gate/Guard Shack on the Right.
From I40 East (going West) towards Raleigh:
Take Exit 289, Wade Ave.
Exit on the Blue Ridge Road Exit
Turn Right at Blue Ridge Road.
Go to the first left, District Drive, turn Left.
Go to Gold Star Drive, turn Right.
Turn in at the first Gate/Guard Shack on the Right.
From US-264 West (going West) to Raleigh:
Take exit 419 to merge onto I-440 W toward US-1 Wake Forest
Take exit 4B toward I-40 W/RDU International Airport
Merge onto Wade Ave.
Take the Blue Ridge Road exit.
Turn Right onto Blue Ridge Road.
Take the 1st Left onto District Drive.
Go to Gold Star Drive, turn Right
