Utica, IL
Sponsored by Team PYOC- RRB Cycles
The 28th Annual 4 Person Team Time Trial in Utica, IL draws top riders to form incredible fast Teams to get that advantage they
need to win and set records. The proper make up of the Team in riding speed, strengths, style and size can make the difference
between finishing as a Team or demoralized individual riders trying to find their way home through the maze of corn, peas lining
the road and blaze orange vested corner marshals.
Great weather, 70’s, partly cloudy and just enough wind to make you happy to turn a corner. When I saw that speck of orange in
the distance I knew we would be out of this wind soon. Rain three days before cleaned the roads but also moved a lot of pea gravel
and stones onto the inner loop roads making it too slippery and high chance of flat tires. Officials, rightly so, shorten course from
59.50km to approximately 49km with a mid road turn around.
Thanks to Waltham Elementary School and Waltham Township for allowing use of their parking area for this Annual event.
Makes for a nice compact and safe area to park, register, warm up and meet your competition.
Team Vision Quest with Jim Sauls, Stathy Touloumis, Dave Sachs and Dave Polin screamed out a 1:04:38
for fastest time of the day.
Team Vision Quest – Alberto’s with Leigh Thompson, Wendy Gaddey, Debbie Pielet and Gwen Smukowski
cranked out the Fastest women time of 1:17:14, seven seconds faster then 2nd place team.
Winners in each class received F.I.A.C. National Champion TTT Jersey and Gold Medal.
Placings 2nd through 5th received Silver and Bronze medals.
A total of $2000.00 in cash prizes was awarded the 7 fastest Teams and the7 fastest Women Teams.
