According to Piaget children intelligences progress through a series of cognitive stages, each
one of those stages is different in quality and described as changes in the logic of thinking.

In the sensorimotor stage Children use skills and abilities they were born with, such as
looking, sucking, grasping, and listening, to learn more about the environment.
In the pre-opetional stage children learn to speak and they become capable of thinking in
symbolic terms (they can form ideas but they can only focus on one feature of object, they can’t
transform knowledge from one situation to another).
- Egocentrism: child can’t understand that others might have another point of view, they
see world only from their own point of view (this is a cognitive limitation).
In the concrete operational stage, children begin school education and they start to use
some rules of logic in problem solving.
-Understanding of Conservation: that is, that physical properties remain the same even if the
object’s appearance is changed.
In the formal operational stage, children is able to use Abstract reasoning and logic.They can
mentally manipulate ideas, concepts and numbers and think hypotically.
