Parking Strategy for Deptford
1 A CONTROLLED PARKING ZONE WAS IMPLEMENTED IN JUNE
2009 FOR GIFFIN STREET AND REGINALD ROAD. THE
CONTROLLED PARKING ZONE (CPZ) HAS BEEN INTRODUCED TO:
• control intrusive parking by commuters and give priority to
residents and businesses
• improve the local quality of life by removing obstructive
parking from junctions, corners and pavements
• allow free access for local people and the Emergency Services
• free up spaces and reduce congestion
• reduce pollution and improve air quality to benefit the health
of the entire community
HOURS OF OPERATION
Monday – Friday 9am-6.00pm, Saturday 9am-1.30pm
A review of the CPZ for Giffin Street and Reginald Road has been
carried out between November 2009 and January 2010. This included
an independent survey over 3 months to see where vehicles are
parked and whether the supply of the different types of bays meet
the needs of residents, businesses, visitors and market traders.
Questionnaires were also completed and fed into the review. These
questionnaires were sent to residents, businesses and market traders.
The results of the CPZ review will be reviewed by the council in
February 2010 and made available to the public by April 2010.
Any changes agreed by the council will then be implemented,
according to the standard legal procedures.
2 DEDICATED MARKET TRADERS PARKING
• Car parking in Hamilton Street is now open for the sole use of market traders on market days
• Permits available through the Market trading section on 020 8314 2050
3 NEW HOUSING DEVELOPMENTS
• Residents of new housing developments will not be eligible for parking permits within the CPZ
