wetted forced-air evaporative cooling

‘Let’s tie this altogether …’
The CowKool Concept …
‘Cool cows directly by ‘wetted forced-air evaporative cooling’
… ‘How do we do this?
Designed to perform ….
‘High-velocity air delivered by the CowKool fans break
through and penetrate the cow’s heavy coat of fur ..’
Designed to perform ….
‘The user-defined misting cycle turns ON allowing small water
droplets to be placed directly on the skin surface of the cow..’
Designed to perform ….
‘The misting cycle turns OFF allowing the fans to blow high velocity
air over the skin surface of the cow evaporating the water thus
reducing the body temperature of the cow.’
Designed to perform ….
‘This ON/OFF/ON/OFF misting cycle is repeated over and over.’

For HOT and DRY areas where evaporative cooling is the
most effective, the misting cycle can be programmed to be
relatively long …’

‘For HOT and HUMID areas where evaporative cooling is
less effective, the misting cycle can be programmed to be
relatively short allowing cooling to be accomplished more by
high-velocity air. Smaller, lower-flow misting nozzles can also
be used.

‘In February 2003 the Hof Hasharon dairy began the move to their present location, and by June 2003
the relocation of the three dairies that make up the present dairy was complete. The cows were
averaging 30 kg (66 lbs) of milk per day and their body temperatures were 39.5 degrees X (103.1
degrees F). In August 2003 we installed and started operating the CowKool system. Within 10 days the
feed ….
consumption increased and the milked produced increased to 33 kg (72.8 lbs) and the body
temperature of the cows decreased to 38.7 degrees C (101.7 degrees F). on average while the daily
humidity was 80-95% and wasn't much lower during the night (we are located less than a mile from the
Mediterranean Sea and always receive a sea breeze).
The CowKool system that cools the cows and the nearby surroundings yielded a strong cooling
effect. The dry matter intake during the toughest months (June – August) was 22.5 kg (49.6 lbs).
Last year (2005) our herd average was 12,500 kg (27,558 lbs). Average daily drop during the hard
summer months is roughly 15% (you have to take into consideration that we try and spread the monthly
pregnancy rates to conform with the quota system here in Israel).
I am very satisfied and believe in the CowKool system. The system is dependable and helps me
persevere with the hard summer months.

‘The CowKool System provides all of the flexibility to easily adjust your
cooling as climatic conditions such as heat and humidity change throughout
the summer period. This flexibility provides the most effective and yet safest
cooling for all types of dairy operations.’
‘To simplify changing the misting cycles throughout the
summer we’ve added a 3-position switch on the front of
the Controller that allows you to change misting cycles
by simply turning a switch …’
