Challenges for the future (1/2)
Maintain the group without the support of the CCE
Or/and
Redevelop the activity with the new programme Centre
Keep activity at NFC level (without calls for data)
Keep the European CLd database useful and used
Keep the ICP and CCE websites active
Organise ICP M&M meetings
Continue the development and the assessment of air pollution risk analysis and trends,
in collaboration with
 Other ICPs for field data
 EMEP for atmospheric deposition
 CIAM/TFIAM for integrated assessment modelling and policy support
in particular on the following topics
 Critical loads for N, S, and heavy metals and their exceedance,
 The new indicator for biodiversity
 Synergies between air pollution and climate change
EMEP – WGE Meeting, Geneva, 20 -23 march 2017
Challenges for the future (2/2)
Collaboration with TF Measurement and modelling to be explored
 What differences to effect based indicators (eg critical loads exceedances,
PODy) are observed when different atmospheric models are used to calculate
the depositions ?
Respond to requests from the EU in relation to NEC directive
EMEP – WGE Meeting, Geneva, 20 -23 march 2017
2017 ICP M&M Task Force
• No CCE Workshop this year.
• The TF is organised over 2,5 days
• in Wallingford (UK)
• 4-6th April
• Main topics:
• Response to the call for data
• National contributions to the effect based work
• Discuss results and their presentation to WGE and EB
• LRTAP Convention and ICP M&M work plan

Activity description/objective
Outcome in 2017
1.1.1.15
In accordance with the request of WGE at its thirty-fourth session,
coordinate a call for data on biodiversity critical loads with interim
report in 2016 and deadline in 2017
The call is aimed at all Parties, including countries in Eastern Europe,
the Caucasus and Central Asia
Ensure that the European critical loads database is updated and
available for the Convention’s effects-oriented air pollution policies
Answers to the call for data are being
compiled and analysed by CCE. Will be
discussed at the ICP M&M TF in april.
Participation of EECCA countries limited
as no funds to contribute to EECCA
participation to meetings
The update of the DB will follow the end
of the call for data
1.1.1.16
Update chapter 5 of the Mapping Manual including latest relevant
scientific knowledge
Update finalised
Translation into Russian under discussion
1.1.3.3
Investigate synergies and trade-offs between air pollution, climate
and nature policies as well as synergies between local and
international policy measures and their effects
Many exchanges between CCE and
CIAM/TFIAM. CCE collaboration with
CIAM discussed.
1.3.1
Explore possible use of EMEP/WGE tools, data and infrastructure to
support AMAP activities
CCE participation to a HTAP-AMAP
meeting in Feb 2016. Collaboration of
CCE on N, S and mercury CLs discussed.
1.4.1
Develop common standards for all ICPs and a web portal approach to
enable access to data/information
No specific action of this point as CCE will
not be involved.
