Isis Project Health Leaflet

The Isis Project was established in 1993 to provide easier access to relevant
services for women experiencing mental distress, and in particular to establish
support for women who also have additional parental responsibility.
We are a small charity that has helped many women and their children survive
a difficult period in their lives.
Our Aim
To help women survive the trauma of mental distress by providing time
and space within a safe and nurturing environment for this healing and
recovery to take place.
We achieve this by providing:






A women-only space that is both safe and welcoming
Free childcare provision within our very well equipped crèche
(below), for any pre-school age (from birth upwards) children of women
attending our centre. Our crèche is registered and inspected by
OFSTED, and is run by our qualified Early Years Practitioners.
A wide-range of group activities all aimed at helping women develop
confidence and self-esteem.
A place to meet with other women and share experiences where
you realize you are not alone and that many other women are
experiencing similar feelings and difficulties.
We try to address our clients' problems using a holistic approach
helping women develop their own inner strengths and create positive
changes in their own lives.
Women must be referred into our service by a professional, they
cannot self refer.
Guidelines

Our Project does NOT provide any individual counselling.

Women who attend our Centre are welcome to access all of our activities. We are
developing an exit strategy which will enable women to move on into other services
locally and city wide. We do recognise that individual needs vary.
We do not provide transport or reimburse travel expenses.
It is important when referring clients to ensure they are well enough to cope within a Group
and are likely to attend.
