Overall, the school placed second in the national competition. The members of ECRCHS’s winning team, pictured at right, are Mara Abesamis, Jose Apolaya, Alexis Brito, Sarah Kwon, Tracy Levick, Noah Millman, Dmytro Pasikov, Shoshana Reich, and Ethan Waldman. ECRCHS holds a record seven National Championship titles, the highest of any school in the nation; it has won the championship in 1998, 2001, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2010, and 2014. ECRCHS has also captured a record 10 California State titles as well as 11 LAUSD regional competition titles. ### The United States Academic Decathlon® is a ten-­‐event scholastic competition for teams of high school students. Each high school enters a team of nine students: 3 "A" or Honor students (3.750 -­‐ 4.00 GPA), 3 "B" or Scholastic students (3.00 -­‐ 3.749 GPA), and 3 "C or below" Varsity students (0.00 -­‐ 2.999 GPA). The theme for the 2014–2015 Academic Decathlon® season is New Alternatives in Energy: Ingenuity and Innovation (www.usad.org).
