Welcome to Wendy Allison Park for Round 4 Pine Rivers Predators VS Ipswich City Bulls Executive Committee President David Armanelli Secretary Rhonda Middleton Treasurer Carmel Bennett General Member Rebecca Bowles Club Manager David Gibbens Football Committee Director Nathan Charles Secretary Margaret Turnbull Treasurer Deb Charles Men’s Delegate Tom Emes Women’s Delegate Keith Blackwood Juniors’ Delegate Stephen Hoines Technical Director Alan Marley Councillor Mike Charlton Councillor Mick Gillam Message from the Director Well the football committee can finally say everything is up and running and that all teams are now playing which is great to see. Preparations for 2017 started back in October of last year; while not everything has gone smoothly, I'm glad to say everyone on the football committee this year has done a fantastic job so far. Our numbers are up across the board and what is really pleasing to see is that female participation is up from 21% last year to a very healthy 36% currently this year. When we set our targets for 2017 we were looking at a total of 430 players, but wow! I can say we are nearly at 480 players. We are about to do our first fundraiser for the year with a pie drive, so if everyone could please get anyone and everyone to buy some pies that would be fantastic. Also thank you to all our volunteers this year from our coaches and managers to our team helpers, without you our teams wouldn't be able to play or train so I thank you. Lastly all the best to our players. Keep up the great work! Yours in football Nathan Charles Electorate Office ‘Crossroads’, 454 Gympie Road, Strathpine, QLD 4500 Under 18’s Well boys we went across to Springfield knowing what to expect after playing and beating them in a trail game about a month ago! Once again Springfield did not disappoint. Well done lads on a great 5-2 win, particularly as we had a few missing with injury and suspension, and the opposition played the man and not the ball all day. They tried to knock us off our game but the boys stood tall and came away convincing winners. Well done to all the players for keeping a level head and sticking to our game plan, particularly with our players being fouled so often. Also thank you to the parents for making the trip away and supporting us. A good solid test for our first league game boys. Good result. Second round we play at home against Park Ridge, on Sunday, 1pm kick-off. Let’s continue on our path boys. Parents, friends, and everybody get down and support the boys. With last week being postponed, our only result so far comes from a very good game against Brisbane Force. The boys proved that they can compete in this league, and if they continue to put the effort in and work together the results will come. Another tough game this week against Ipswich City, where further improvement will be necessary to chalk up our first win of the season. Good luck to all players and coaches involved. The change of jersey colour, training field and chant has not changed the girls’ spirit or their love for the game. They all went out proud and happy to be representing their new club and they were even more excited to come home with their first win of the season. The heat and having no subs after 20 minutes didn’t hold them back. Three spectacular goals by Taylor and two unfortunate goals against, left the ladies grinning and ready to train hard for the next game. Annerley played hard and were a tough team to attack but that didn’t stop the Tards nor did it stop the constant banter and laughing between the team. Many of these ladies have been playing together for multiple years and are so grateful for the opportunity to play under Jamie again this season in blue and yellow. Jamie Kirwan Women’s City League 2 Coach What a great start for the Div 4 and 5 ladies taking home two wins last week. The Div 4 ladies had a fantastic game at home against North Star with a 3 nil win, this brings a great start to the season with having our first win at our home ground. The Div 5 ladies, who played away at North Pine walked away with a 2 nil win. They worked hard and challenged themselves to the ball every time without giving up, so well done! The Div 3 ladies had a challenging game way at Pine Hills, together the team held their ground right up to half time with a nil all score. Although by the second half, Pine Hills managed to get by us with a goal and winning by 1nil. All in all, well done to the Rivers Women’s teams who each took to the field ready to challenge and take on the oppositions with all their might. What a great start to the season, and keep up the hard work! Women’s City League 3, 4 and 5 # 1 20 24 25 27 28 29 30 32 33 36 23 26 31 35 PLAYER’S NAME D. Cleaver A. Thomson B. Curtis D. Blackmore CAP 2 Firsts Hi everyone, I would like to thank you all for coming down and supporting Pine Rivers United. Today the top team will be taking on Ipswich City, which is going to be a tough game. After last week’s loss and the wet weather closing the fields mid-week, the boys will be itching to get out there and prove a point. I would also like to welcome two new lads to the team Issac Wilcock and Corey Burton. Our first home game! After our game last week had to be rescheduled to another weekend we are hoping we can start off our season with a win this Friday night against North Star. They won’t be easy beats, that’s for sure. The boys are keen to come out of the gates firing. Let’s hope the rain holds off so we can all start the weekend off with a great night of football at Wendy Alison!
