Additional user guides cover topics such as searching and finding results, and printing, e-mailing and saving. All user guides can be downloaded from the EBSCO Support Site: support.ebsco.com. Print/E-mail/Save You can print, e-mail, and save to a file any results found in NRC. When printing, you have the option to customize the printout for patients. For more information on Customized Printouts, see the Customized Printouts section in this User Guide. Printing Your Results To print an article 1. Display the article and then click Print. NRC displays the Print Manager. 2. Accept the defaults and click Print. NRC displays the article in your browser window. Click the Print icon on the browser toolbar. 3. Click the Back link to return to the previous screen. Advanced Features: Remove these items from folder after printing – allows you to empty the folder of all items after printing. This option is available only if you are printing from the folder. Include when printing – allows you to select the document format types to print. If you do not make any selections in this area, NRC uses the default settings. o HTML Full Text (when available) – allows you to select whether the HTML Full Text of the article should be included. Options include: Brief Citation – prints only a brief citation. Brief Citation and Abstract – prints a brief citation and an abstract. Detailed Citation and Abstract – prints a detailed citation and an abstract. o Citation Format – allows you to print your citations in a specific format. Options include: AMA – American Medical Association APA – American Psychological Association Chicago/Turabian Author – Date Chicago/Turabian Humanities MLA – Modern Language Association Vancouver/ICMJE To print PDF Full Text If you are printing an article that includes PDF full text, the PDF does not automatically format for printing from your browser window. You must open the PDF in Adobe Acrobat Reader, and use the Reader's print capability. If the article includes a citation and/or HTML full text, they will print from the browser window, but you will still need to open the PDF in Adobe Acrobat Reader, and use the Reader's print capability. To print Linked Full Text If you are printing an article that includes linked full text, you must follow the links directly to the full text and then print. If the article includes a citation and/or HTML full text, they will print from the browser window, but you will still need to follow the links directly to the full text and then print. Nursing Reference Center User Guide support.ebsco.com 4 February 2013 Customized Printouts You can customize an NRC printout to include any or all of the following: Patient’s Name Healthcare Provider’s Name Department Who to Call Notes You are prompted to enter this information after you select the Print option. If your institution’s logo or other branding image has been loaded, NRC also includes this image on the printout. The custom information you provide appears at the top of the first page of the printed document. Including this information on Patient Education Packets provides consistent communication between healthcare providers and patients, enhances the practitionerpatient relationship, and establishes your facility as the facility-of-choice. Notes: The image that appears on customized printouts is loaded by your NRC administrator using EBSCOadmin. The Customized Printouts feature can be disabled using EBSCOadmin. If you do not see Customized Printout options when you print from NRC, see your NRC administrator. After completing customized printout information, NRC displays a preview of the printout. You can then print the document or cancel the print job and make modifications. Nursing Reference Center User Guide support.ebsco.com 5 February 2013 To customize a printout 1. Display the document and then click Print. NRC displays Print Manager including the customized printout fields. 2. Enter the custom information in the customized printout fields. Note: You do not need to complete all the fields. NRC prints the text only for the fields you complete. 3. Click Print. NRC displays the Print Preview screen, including the customized printout information. 4. Do one of the following: Click the OK in the Print dialog box. NRC prints the document with the customized information. Click Cancel in the Print dialog box. NRC returns to the Print Preview screen. 5. Click the Back link to return to the previous screen. Notes: The Customized Printouts feature can be disabled using EBSCOadmin. If you do not see Customizing Printout options when you print from NRC, see your NRC administrator. If you have selected multiple documents to print simultaneously, and you have configured customized printout information, the customized printout information is included on all documents. If a branding or logo image is configured for your NRC printouts, you cannot control whether or not it is included with your NRC printouts. To change or remove the image, see your NRC administrator. There is no limit to the amount of text you can enter in the Notes field. To select a Citation Format for your printout, click the Show More link. Nursing Reference Center User Guide February 2013 6 support.ebsco.com E-mailing Your Results To e-mail an article 1. Display the article and then click E-mail. NRC displays the E-mail Manager. 2. Enter the recipient’s e-mail address in the E-mail Address field. To send to more than one e-mail address, use a semicolon between each e-mail address. For example, [email protected]; [email protected]. 3. Enter a subject for the e-mail message in the Subject field, up to 40 characters. For example, Results of research on topic ABC. 4. Enter comments to include with the e-mail message in the Comments field. 5. Select the format in which to present the content of the e-mail message: formatted text (Rich Text option) or ASCII text (Plain Text option). This option is useful if the recipient’s e-mail client does not accept e-mail containing formatted text. 6. Click Send to send the e-mail message. Otherwise, only the citation and any available HTML full text will be sent. If you follow the links to the full text and it is PDF format, the PDF will be sent as an attachment to the e-mail. To e-mail persistent links to searches 1. From a Result List, click the Add search to folder link located above the Result List. The search query is saved in the folder as a persistent link to a search. 2. Access the folder and click the Persistent Links to Searches area of the folder. 3. Click the check box associated with the Search entry and then click the E-mail link. NRC displays the E-mail Manager including the Links to Searches sub-tab. 4. Enter the e-mail address in the E-mail Address field. To send to more than one e-mail address, use a semicolon between each e-mail address. For example, [email protected]; [email protected]. 5. Click Save. NRC displays the article to be saved on the screen. 3. From your browser menu, click File>Save As. Enter the path where the file should be saved (for example, C:\Project\ResearchInfo). To save to a floppy disk, enter the path to the floppy drive (for example, A:\ResearchInfo). Be sure to save as an HTML or text file. 4. Click Save. NRC saves the file to the location you specified. 5. Click the Back link to return to the previous screen. To copy a persistent link to a search 1. From a Result List, click the Display link to search icon located above the Result List. NRC displays the search query in a field above the Result List. 2. Highlight the link text and copy using your browser's copy function. You can immediately paste the link into a web site, document, or e-mail. To save persistent links to searches 1. From a Result List, click the Add search to folder link located above the Result List. NRC adds the search query to the folder as a persistent link to a search. 2. Access the folder and click the Persistent Links to Searches area. 3. Click the check box associated with the Search entry and then click the Save link. NRC displays the Save Manager including the Links to Searches sub-tab. 4. Click the Save button to save the link. NRC displays a page that includes file saving instructions and the persistent link to be saved. 5. From your browser menu, click File>Save As. Enter the path where the file should be saved (for example, C:\Project\ResearchInfo). To save to a floppy disk, enter the path to the floppy drive (for example, A:\ResearchInfo).
