GUIDELINES FOR PREPARING THE PAPERS This document explains and demonstrates how to prepare your camera-ready manuscript for The Fourth International Proficiency Testing Conference Proceeding. The best is to read these instructions and follow the outline of this text. Responsibility for the content of published papers rests upon the authors, not the Conference Organizers. The text area for your manuscript must be identical with the file Example.doc. Please do not place any text outside this area and do not modify the current layout of this file. How to name the full length paper: Family name of the first author_theme code_O(for orally)_paper code.doc Family name of the first author_theme code_P(for poster)_paper code.doc (e.g. Craig_PTS_O_P0015.doc for an oral presentation with the theme of proficiency testing schemes; Toader_URM_P_P0236.doc for a poster presentation with the theme of use of reference materials). Please keep this in mind when designing your figures and tables etc. It is our goal to be relatively flexible in the format, yet maintain a reasonable degree of consistency between papers in the finished product. The paper should be submitted to the Conference Secretariat no later than 17th May, 2013. Final version of the papers should be submitted to the Conference Secretariat by 31st May, 2013. The Fourth International Proficiency Testing Conference Brasov, Romania (17)18th − 20th September, 2013 (14 pt) TITLE (ARIAL, BOLD, 14 pt, UPPERCASE, CENTER) (The title of the paper manuscript must be in capital letters, Arial, 14-font size, bold and centred. Use more than one line if necessary, but always use single-line spacing). (14 pt) (14 pt) First name and family name of the first author, First name and family name of the second author, ... Type the text of the abstract using the normal style: Arial, 12-font size, regular and singlespaced in one paragraph. The abstract should not exceed ½ A4 page (approx. 300 words). Please use only text; do NOT use: subscript, superscript, “, equations, ş, ţ, ă, â, î, Ş, Ţ, Î etc. (12 pt) (12 pt) Keywords (Arial, bold, 12 pt, left) (12 pt) After two blank lines, list the keywords covered in your paper. Use Arial, 12-font size, italic. All manuscripts must be in English or in Romanian. Please keep a second copy of your manuscript in your office (just in case anything gets lost in the mail). When receiving the manuscript, we assume that the corresponding authors grant us the copyright to First name and family name of the first author, First name and family name of the second author, ... : Title of the article use the manuscript for the proceeding in question. Should authors use tables or figures from other Publications, they must ask the corresponding publishers to grant them the right to publish this material in their paper. Use italic for emphasizing a word or phrase. Please does not use boldface typing or capital letters except for section headings (cf. remarks on section headings, below). (use Arial 12pt, regular, justify) (12 pt) (12 pt) 2 HEADING 2 (e.g. EXPERIMENTAL) (ARIAL, BOLD, UPPERCASE, 12 pt, TAB STOP 0 CM, LEFT 0.5 CM, LEFT) (12 pt) The proceedings will be produced directly from author-prepared manuscripts, in electronic form, on A4 paper size 297 mm x 210 mm (8.27” x 11.69”). The main body of the manuscript (the first paragraph) follows the first heading, after two blank lines Arial 12 pt. Never use bold except as indicated for the titles. Never underline any text. Please do not insert other headers and footers then those indicated in the file Example.doc. All papers, using only MS-Word processor (“pdf” is not accepted), are single-spaced pages limited to 8 pages, including figures, tables, and references. However, the maximum size of the electronic file should not exceed about 1024 KB (or 1MB). The font type of body text including abstract of all papers, should be Arial with a size of 12, and should be left and right justified. The paper’s upper and lower margins should be 2.5 cm (0.98”), with left and right margins of 2.5 cm (0.98”) and with header and footer of 1 cm (0.39”). (12pt) 2.1 Headings, subheadings and indenting (Arial, bold, 12 pt, Tab stop 0 cm, left 0.75 cm, left) (12 pt) The headings are in capital letters, Arial, bold, size of 12 (Heading 1, Heading 2 etc.) tab stop 0 cm, left 0.5 cm. Subheadings are in lower case letters Arial bold, size of 12 (Subheading 2.1, Subheading 2.2 etc.), tab stop 0 cm, left 0.75 cm. The headings and subheadings are not indented. There are two blank lines of Arial 12 pt before and one after the heading. There is 1 blank line of Arial 12 pt before and after the subheadings. All headings and subheadings must be numbered, aligned left. If a heading or subheading falls at the bottom of a page it will be transferred to the top of the next page. The first line of a new paragraph should not be indented. There is a blank line between two paragraphs. (12 pt) Figures and tables (Arial, bold, 12 pt, Tab stop 0 cm, left 0.75 cm, left) (12 pt) Figures, line drawings, photographs, tables… should be placed in the appropriate location, aligned centre, and positioned close to the citation in the document. They should have a caption, Arial 12-font size, with a dash dividing the figure number and the table number and the title (e.g. Fig. 1. Standard deviation for repeatability in comparison with that required by the standards) and should be numbered consecutively, e.g. Fig. 1, Fig. 2, Table 1, and Table 2. Figure title should be placed at the bottom of the figure, aligned centre, leaving enough space so that the caption will not be confused with the text. References should be cited in the text by square brackets [1], [2] etc. Two or more references at a time may be put in one set of brackets [3, 4]. For book references, publisher and the publisher’s location should be added if possible. Please use the table format and do not use free line between the references). E.g.
