Ro ads how" included The Center
for Repro ductive Medicine in
Hous ton, Southwes tern Medical
Center in Dallas , and the Fertility Center of Dallas . Thes e trips were for the purpos e of
intro ducing clinics who have never warmed TWEB ova to the many benefits o f recommending
our do nor eggs to their patients and how we can benefit their clinics .
We appreciate the gracious hos pitality o f all the clinics and were impres s ed with the tours we
received upo n arrival. It was als o helpful to experience this one o n o ne vis it as it gives us a
better idea of the individual clinic needs and ho w we can work to gether to pro vide the bes t
options and o utcomes o f our clients .
TWEB is fo cus ed no t only on recipient cus tomer s ervice, but als o with exceptional clinic
s upport, co mmunication and high quality outcomes . We have implemented thes e vis its to
allow the clinics the oppo rtunity to talk with us in pers on and to es tablis h one on one
relatio ns hips with key s taff members .

Human Repro duction and
Embryology held its annual
co nference in Hels inki, Finland. It
was attended by over 8,000

I don't often s hare my pers o nal
experiences about infertility. After 2 0 years o f talking to thous ands of women who have or are
go ing through infertility, I kno w there is no s uch thing as a typical experience that can be
addres s ed with s imple advice o r direction. My o wn s to ry clearly illuminates that!
Every pers on enters my world of donor eggs at very different emotional s tage in the proces s
and each has a unique res olution bas ed o n their own financial res ources , level of s uppo rt
from family o r friends , knowledge of the 's cience' behind egg donation, pers onal res ilience,
determinatio n, phys ical s tamina, s trength o f their partners (if they have o ne), and s o on.
Having s aid that, I have s een common experiences and believe that in s haring s ome of my
own s tory, I can help remove s o me barriers that we enco unter and s ome we create for
ours elves . Fro m my own experiences , I have woven a philos o phy into The World Egg Bank that
s peak to the needs of infertile women. It is the relations hip that builds a family.

I was 2 5 years o ld and unable to co nceive. It was in the mid-1980's when egg donation did not
exis t as an o ptio n. After 15 years o f IUI's , clomid, laparo s co pies (5), lab tes ts , 3 IVFs with my own
eggs , and co ns iderable debt, I ended this painful phas e of my journey witho ut a baby and
with a diagno s is o f "unexplained infertility." I was left with a pretty big 'empty nes t' to s ay the
leas t. I was going on 40 years old, had lived in two countries (Canada and the U.S.), was
peaking in my 15 year career, traveled extens ively, los t my father and a brother to cancer,
bo ught/renovated 3 homes , and all of thes e experiences o nly s trengthened my des ire for a
child. Some peo ple are able to find res o lve and co mfo rt in their decis ion to be childles s , I was
no t o ne of them. I tip my hat to peo ple who can choos e to be or remain childles s , becaus e I
truly believe that is the right choice for them.
