SUMMARY

Killarney regain top spot after a dominant performance at Pluim Park, The Entrance get back
to winning ways after a Blunden Double and Berkeley show their defensive class in a 4-0
drubbing of Terrigal FC.

All BPL teams have the luxury of next weekend off, with the washout weekend not being
required. 22 of the Coasts best will be taking the field on Wednesday night however, with
the CCF Combined all-star team taking on the Central Coast Mariners. Kickoff is 7pm at
Pluim Park and entry is FREE.
KILLARNEY DISTRICT 3 def. GOSFORD CITY 0

The highlight of the round was the second playing of the Coast Shelter Cup at Pluim Park on
Saturday night between two of the competition favourites and last season’s grand finalists.
An outstanding initiative by the Gosford City Football Club the Cup acts as a fund-raiser for
Coast Shelter, a local not-for-profit charity that provides accommodation and support
programs for people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Funds were raised on the
night through raffles, bucket collections and a $50 per head function in the CCF clubhouse.
As was the case last season the Dragons played in a special all-blue strip that matches the
charity’s colours. Donations can still be made – go to the GCFC website
http://www.gosfordcityfc.org.au/news-category/5332-coast-shelter-cup-2017 or contact club
president Col Seggie on 0414 686 098.

Unfortunately for City they were unable to retain the Cup that they had won in emphatic
style last season with their 7-1 win over The Entrance. They went into the match without
four regular first graders including player/coach Ian McAndrew. By contrast Killarney District,
with the return of their two suspended players, was close to full strength and the difference
showed with the Terriers in control for much of the match. They got off to a perfect start
with a brilliant 20-metre strike in the third minute from Daniel Moffatt finding the top corner
of the Gosford net and could easily have extended the lead with a series of attacks within
the first 10 minutes of the match. As it was, Killarney did double the lead in the 23rd minute
from a goalmouth scramble which ended with a shot from Matt Hall deflected past the
Dragons ‘keeper.

Both sides had chances early in the second half but it was Killarney who effectively settled
the result in the 53rd minute with another sensational long distance drive, this time by Tim
Knight. Only a brilliant save by Gosford custodian Tom Coventry prevented the Terriers from
extending their lead with the loss compounded by the sending off of Jared McNee five
minutes from full-time.

It was the first time that Gosford have suffered back-to-back losses since rounds 12 and 13
of the 2015 season. The BPL competition now heads into a one-week break and resumes
with Gosford City away to The Entrance and Killarney at home against Southern-Ettalong.
THE ENTRANCE 2 def. TOUKLEY 0

A crucial win for The Entrance in their fourth Saturday night match of the season and their
third success at Pat Morley Oval. They went into the match without joint coach Matt Page
but welcomed back Josh Fletcher and Glenn Watkins from injury.

Both goals were scored by Adam Blunden the first, and his first of the season, just prior to
the half-time break and the second midway through the second term. He looked certain to
notch up his hat-trick only to be foiled by a brilliant save from Toukley goalkeeper, Jake
Purches.

The Entrance now have a week’s rest before taking on Gosford City at Pat Morley Oval;
Toukley play Terrigal at Harry Moore Oval.
TERRIGAL 0 def. by BERKELEY VALE 4

Goals to Brad Smythe, Jameson Flynn and John Dineen-Griffin in first half effectively sealed
the result for Berkeley, however it’s the excellent defensive effort that earned the praise of
coach Mark Pratt.

Paul McGinley added a fourth midway through the second half, which was also his fourth of
the year. Berkeley are now up to 3rd place and have a good run of games in the home
stretch, with 4 out of 6 remaining to be played at Mingara

Next Round: Terrigal take on Toukley at Harry Moore Oval whilst Berkeley Vale play East
Gosford in a top 4 clash at Hylton Moore Oval.

drew SOUTHERN-ETTALONG 1
Southern Ettalong’s James Caban has continued his scoring form with a 23rd Minute strike
against southern. His 12th of the year game Avoca the lead which they would take into the
break on a hard Erina High School pitch.

Avoca struck back in the 62nd minute with a free kick from wide angle taken quickly by
Stuart Adams before Southern had a chance to get organized. The draw leaves southern in
2nd last place, albeit in a congested battle for finals football.

Next Round: Avoca have a tough test against leaders Killarney District at EDSACC; with
Southern-Ettalong looking to take maximum points from last place Kincumber at James
Brown Oval.
KINCUMBER 0 def. by EAST GOSFORD 3

In form East Gosford striker Rob Walton has added another 2 to his tally, moving up to
outright second in the golden boot standings. His 25th minute strike was followed up by a
missed penalty, which he converted from the rebound.

Tom Kelly took the result beyond doubt in the 80th minute after a goalmouth scramble keeping the Rams in the top 4, with a 4 point gap over The Entrance.

Kincumber have a must win away fixture at Southern Ettalong next round, with East Gosford
home to Berkeley in a potentially top 4 defining match at Hylton Moore.
