Autobond makes first sale in Estonia

5 November 2013
Estonia – a new market for Autobond
Autobond, the UK-based laminating and UV coating machinery manufacturer, has
entered the Estonian market for the first time with the installation of a Mini 76 SD T
laminator at commercial printer AS Printon Trükikoda. The investment supports the
Estonian company’s expansion into foreign markets.
Founded in 2000, AS Printon Trükikoda has developed from a single B1 four-colour offset
printer into a complete print service provider that offers an extensive in-house postproduction service. Serving the magazine, book and commercial printing markets across
Estonia, the Tallinn-based company has recognised the potential of exporting its services
abroad – most notably in Scandinavia.
Currently exporting over half of its production, AS Printon Trükikoda wanted to increase
this capacity by broadening its service offering. This ultimately lead the company to
lamination, explains AS Printon Trükikoda’s Chairman, Tarmo Oramäe.
“To be a successful business in the pressurised print market at the moment, you have to
differentiate your services and throw your net a bit further,” comments Oramäe. “If you
offer a quality service and product there are always going to be new business
opportunities from around the world. With that in mind, we recognised a growing
demand for adding value to print with lamination and we wanted to take advantage of
that opportunity.”
Following meetings at Ipex 2010 and drupa 2012, Oramäe knew that Autobond built
machinery that matches his company’s high standards. He continues, “We needed a
laminator that we could trust and rely on. To run profitably, you need a machine that will
deliver high-quality jobs with a short turnaround and with minimal downtime.
“The Mini 76 SD T is a very reliable and robust machine that meets all these
specifications and it has immediately integrated into our workflow. It has enabled us to
cut outsourcing costs and to respond quickly and efficiently to our customers’ lamination
requirements. We believe it will also play an important part in helping us to grow our
export capabilities.”
Autobond’s Mini 76 SD thermal thin film laminator is the company’s bestselling machine
worldwide. Designed for lamination of jobs up to B1 portrait, it can operate up to a top
speed of 45 m/min, making it ideal for short to medium length jobs. It is fed by a
Heidelberg-Stahl suction drum feeder for continuous production, and has a worldwide
reputation for being one of the most durable machines in the market.
John Gilmore, Managing Director of Autobond, comments, “We’re delighted with this sale
in Estonia. There is potential in the Baltics for further sales, like the ambitious AS Printon
Trükikoda is doing in Scandinavia. The global trend for high-quality lamination means
that by bringing laminating in-house, printers can enhance the quality of their print, and
add great value to their work, increasing their profit margins.”
- ENDS Autobond is one of the world's leading manufacturers of sheet-fed film laminators, both
thermal and water-based, and is a major supplier of thermal and water-based films and
manufacturer of adhesives, which can be used on most makes of laminator. The
company has customers in more than 160 countries.
