WinZip Instructions WinZip is a program that enables you to encrypt and password protect your Data Extract file. Due to security protocol, it is required that all Data Extracts submitted are zipped and password protected. If you have any questions or are unsure if the Data Extract is properly protected, please contact TDM Support at [email protected] before sending. This document provides information regarding how to download WinZip if your county does not have the program, how to determine what version of WinZip you are using if you already have WinZip, and how to use WinZip 8.0, 9.0, and 11.0/11.1. Go to www.winzip.com. Click on ‘Download’ button, and choose ‘WinZip 11.1’ from the drop down menu. 2. Choose either the trial version (click ‘Download Now’) or the $29.95 version (click ‘Buy WinZip Now’). Please note that the option of ‘Get WinZip Free’ allows users to download WinZip only if the user also downloads other software, some of which are fee-based. 2 Note: These instructions follow the ‘Download Evaluation’ option. If you would like to download ‘WinZip 11.1 Standard Single-User License’ for $29.95, click ‘Buy WinZip Now’ and follow the directions. 3. A ‘File Download’ box will appear. Click ‘Save’ 4. Save the WinZip application to your desktop or other convenient location. Click ‘Save’. 5. Navigate to WinZip file saved to your desktop. Double Click on the file. 6. A ‘Setup’ box will appear. Click on Setup button. Note: You many need a system administrator to install the program for you or change the privileges so that you can install the program yourself. 3 You may be offered the option to learn about other products. Choose ‘No, please continue installing WinZip’. 7. Follow instructions to setup WinZip. Click ‘Next’. 8. If you accept the License Agreement, click ‘I accept the license agreement’. Then click ‘Next’. 4 9. Click ‘Next’. 10. Leave all four rows checked and click ‘Next’. 11. Click ‘Next’. 5 12. Click ‘Start with WinZip Classic’ and then click ‘Next’. 13. Leave ‘Express setup’ checked and click ‘Next’. 14. Click ‘Next’. 6 15. Click ‘Finish’. Note: When opening WinZip, click ‘Use Evaluation Version’ (you do not need to enter any information in the Registration lines). 7 How to Determine WinZip Version 1. To determine what version of WinZip you currently have Click on the ‘Start’ menu and go to WinZip. 2. WinZip application will open. It may open in WinZip Wizard. If so, click on ‘WinZip Classic’ button. 3. Another WinZip box with open that looks like this: 8 4. Click on Help and About WinZip 5. An ‘About WinZip’ box will open. The text in this window will indicate which version of WinZip you have. In this case it is version 8.1. 9 Instructions for WinZip 8.0: Creating a Password-Protected File Contact [email protected] for a password (use 'Password Request (TDM)' as subject). Right click in open space in folder, ‘New’ > ‘WinZip File’. 3. Name the new WinZip file. 4. Drag the file (database) onto the WinZip file. 11 5. An 'Add' dialog box will open. Click Password. 6. A password dialog box will open. Set password and click ‘OK’. 7. Reenter your password and click ‘OK’. 12 8. Click 'Add' to close the dialog box and add the file. 9. Try to extract or open the Excel file; it should now require a password to do either. 10. Please DO NOT send the zipped data extract file via email without password protection. Response may take up to 2 working days. Please DO NOT send the zipped data extract file via email without password protection. Right click in open space in folder, go to 'New File'|'WinZip File'. 14 3. Name the new WinZip file. 4. Drag the file (data extract) onto the WinZip file. 5. An 'Add' dialog box will open. Check ‘Encrypt added files’ under the Options section. 6. Follow the instructions for setting a password. Please use 256-Bit AES encryption if it is an option. 15 7. Click 'Add' to close the dialog and add the file. Click 'OK' to close the dialog and add the file 8. Try to extract or open the file; it should now require a password to do either. 9. Navigate to the folder that contains the file. 2. Right click in open space in folder, go to 'New'|'WinZip File'. 17 3. Name the new WinZip file. 4. Drag the file (database) onto the WinZip file. 5. An 'Add' dialog box will open. Check ‘Encrypt added files.’ Click ‘Add.’ 6. An ‘Encrypt’ dialog box will open. Enter your password, then reenter password for confirmation. Please use 256-Bit AES encryption if it is an option. 18 7. Click 'OK' to close the dialog and add the file 8. Try to extract or open the file; it should now require a password to do either. 9.
