May 1-4: National Teacher Appreciation Week-Please let your teacher know how much you appreciate
all they do!
May 3: 3rd grade will take a tour of DIS at 9:00 a.m.
May 5: No School
May 8: DEA Day-Meeting for Teachers. NO SCHOOL for students.
May 11: 3rd Grade Track Meet sponsored by the Kiwanis Club at Durant High School
May 16: Third Grade Musical, “Rock Around the 50’s,” at DHS begins at 6:00 p.m.
May 18: 2nd grade Awards-7:55 a.m.
NWH Open house from 4:00-6:00 p.m. “Learning Takes you Places”
~Journey through the halls of Northwest Heights Elementary and explore a new ADVENTURE in every
room! No matter where you GO, you will DISCOVER learning is our destination!
May 19: No School
May 22: PSO sponsored NWH Glow/Dance Party and Snowcones provided by PSO (Each grade
level will be assigned times
to participate.)
May 23: 3rd grade Awards-7:55 a.m.
Kindergarten Picnic at the Dixon Durant Park (Watch for notes from Kindergarten teachers.)
May 24: First Grade Picnic at the Dixon Durant Park (Watch for notes from 1st grade teachers.)
May 25: Last day of school for students

***Our local radio stations are sponsoring an Excellence in Education award program. To nominate a teacher you
can go online to www.klbcfm.com to fill out an online nomination form. There is also a printable form available
online. This is the perfect opportunity to show teachers how much they mean to you. Visit the website for more
information.
***Our school day begins at 7:55 a.m. Please have students here on time! Our day ends at 3:10 p.m.
Early checkouts are strongly discouraged. Attendance during these times is very important, as students
miss valuable learning opportunities if they are absent! Thank you for your help with this!
Please call the office with dismissal changes prior to 2:15 each afternoon! Any requests after this time cannot be
accommodated.
